BBBH-- you were great, you were inspirational, you're now a premiership captain, and we pray you'll be a huge part of the leadership group for many years to come.

But Kirky for cap'n 2006 all the way. If the last 2 weeks hasn't proved that this man is the heart and soul of the playing group (and the moral successor to P. Kelly), then I haven't been paying attention.
Why be scared ... I think you are correct

Hall almost did not make the game because of a STUPID action
And only a few weeks bak he cost us a game against Adelaide (gave away a silly 50)

Barry Hall can lead and inspire ... but I think he is too volatile, umpires can take a dislike to him (and the team)

Hall is great for the NRL marketing machine as Capt. ie he looks the type a Parra supporter can relate to - and he is payed a bunch

BUT Kirk inspired the team vs Cats (3rd qtr huddle) he has the passion and can talk the talk and walk the walk

A Buddist capt of a footy team... ONLY IN SYDNEY !!! ...
Ducks one week, Swans the next... just don't be a Goose till October!

I think the finals suggests Barry isn't the man for the job, my only question about Kirk is his age. Both he and Goodes grew when made captain. I would have liked to see Goodes get a second go

        Points for Bazza:

        1. #1 goalkicker in the AFL, 2005.
        2. AFL Coaches' Association player of the year award.
        3. Highest # of Brownlow votes for the club.
        4. All Australian, 2005.
        5. Only Swans multiple goalkicker in the Grand Final.
        6. Captained the Swans to a Premiership victory.

        I dunno. He's alright.

Like the Roos giving Moran N18 this year.

          Kirk for captain.

Although his output while captain was significantly lower.

I would be tempted to give the no 14 to a brilliant young midfielder some good judges rate Josh Willoughby the equal of Darren Jarman when it comes to skills by hand and foot if he is anything like Jarman then the no 14 will fit nicely on his back.
                cheers Ian

I am on the Kirk bandwagon, don't you worry. My jump is documented in a thread somewhere. It just ********s me no end to read stuff like:

"he cost us a game against Adelaide"

                  and

"umpires can take a dislike to him (and the team)"

When the umpires gave Hall more Brownlow votes than any other Swans player and we wouldn't have a flag without him.

14 to Amon and dual captaincy should go to Hall and Kirky!
Some people say Football is a matter of life and death - I say it's a lot more important than that!

careful with ********s me no end? it can cause constipation!
Fair points re the Brownlow votes and the GF

BUT my view is the best player is maybe not the best leader
(should Kelly have been skipper .. or Lockett..or wait for it ... P Roos?)

My comment on the Adelaide game... I seem to remember Hall giving away a 50 at a very crucial time ... do you remember this?

Hard to make #14 the captains jumper when we had 5 captains
                          in 1 season.

                            About the no. 14
My 2 cents, give it to Buchy, I was proud as punch as to the way he played in the last q. when it mattered. If he makes it famous again, great. If not, so be it.
