As the bloke who rang WLF said - after his effort at the Brownlow he's an honourary Swan anyway. The Age reports Beau Mcdonald.

Yeah I'd take him IF we believe we are a genuine back to back chance (which I doubt)

Why? There won't be to much of a change to the team and the younger guys should just get better. The only thing barring another tilt is injuries.

By the way, I vote no. The swans have a bad history of taking players past their used by dates, not that Spider is yet! I get the feeling that Roosy is not looking to go down that path though. But really what would I know.

Past his best? He made the AA team this year, and is easily in the best three ruckmen in the comp.

We are a back to back chance next year. We would be moreso with Spida in the team.

I'm unsure. Our first pick in the draft is pick 19. Obviously that is not enough for Spider, so a premiership player may be on the move if Roos really wants this trade to happen.

Like i said i'm not sure, but he is a great ruckman and will give us every more chance to get us back to back.

He has played very well the past two years, but whatever that has done to increase his trade value, it's probably counter-acted by his age. When the Hawks traded for Spida, he was a five year player. Now he's a two year player.

Pick 19 and Saddington ought to be more than enough (if Saddo wants to leave, he is contracted).

It would be a steal if we could get him for pick 19 + Saddo.

Hawthorn might take some magic beans too...

It doesn't sound like a lot... but we're not getting a long term player here. We're getting a 31yo who wants out. Everitt's out of contract, and if he can't stand Clarkson, he could easily walk (although he'll only end up at Collingwood).

We can rule out the following: Hall, Davis, O'Keefe, Bolton, Williams, Schneider, Jolly, Kennelly, O'Loughlin, Ablett, Barry, Bolton, Roberts-Thomson, Kirk and Goodes. They are not on the table for Everitt.

Mathews, Fosdike, Crouch, Buchanan and Bevan aren't likely to interest the Hawks. They have plenty of mostly younger midfielders who are capable of doing the same job. Buchanan is the possible exception there.

That leaves Dempster or one of the non-premiership players as possible options. What do people think of Dempster? I can't see him being moved on, myself.

I'd be interested to hear other assessments of Everitt's trade value.

The fact is if he is available we won't be the only clubs after him. Essendon will be after a ruckman now that Matty Allan has retired, Collingwood would like to bolster their ruck stocks after their horrendous injury run. I'm afraid with our highest pick at #19 our bargaining position isn't very strong.

The Hawks aren't going to let go of one of only 2 players to play every game this year, let alone such an important one.

His age is an issue, but he's obviously tough & if he wanted to come I'd like to see us try to accommodate him. Spider & Baz reunited would be a sight.

As for throwing up names for possible trades - I'm not going there.

I thought we'd go after him last year so I'd be delighted if they get a chance this year. Would be a perfect swap for Ball.

Can't see him going tho - I think he's happier at Hawthorn now than he was last year.

Alistair Clarkson has already admitted he is working towards 2008 so there's no way Spida will be in those plans.

For the Hawks he will be a mentor to their younger players but not much else.

He would be the perfect replacement for Ball - we'd get 2 or 3 good years out of him and he is a supurb ruckman and ensure we are right up their in the mix again next year. Spida would recognise its his last chance to get a premiership medal as well so he wouldn't be coming here for a pension.

However, because of his age, there is no reason to go over the top on trades.

Hawthorn would be temped by a #19 pick (it would mean they get 3 in the top 20) and a fringe player (such as Saddo).

Another option would be to trade Saddo for a 2nd round pick to Essendon for example and then use the pick in the trade with the Hawks (i.e Spida for 2 picks)

not until we know what other stuff is on the table and what it is we have to offer. i reckon he's a gun, but there may be many more favourable outcomes such as getting a promising unproven player with 10 years left on the clock.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
