Yes. He got towelled up as a CHB, and we all agreed he can't play there. But, Goodes was towelled up most of the time when he played CHB too. Before Dunkley retired when Saddington wasn't required to play KP he was fine.

We already have several promising players with great outside skills in Malceski and McVeigh. I dont see why we should try to get another promising youngster. If we are going to trade for a midfield, it has to be an established player no less.

Btw, Saddo for Sam Power is selling Saddo extremely short. What exactly Sam Power has done in comparison to Saddo?

I'd rather give McVeigh some game time in that role than Sam Power. If we were to trade Saddington we have to get a tall player with experience. Not a midfielder to go with the 10 or so who couldn't break into the team this year.

We definitely need KPP not small midfielders someone like Rawlings not that he was outstanding last year but when on song he is a great aerialst.

A significant part of his desire to return, I suspect, had to do with uncertainty about how much game time he would get. Now that's he broken back into the team (and his form certainly suggests that he will stay there for now), he's probably much more likely to want to stay.

The Saddington/Power deal works for me. It all depends on whether Saddo wants to leave though.

I reckon J. Mc Veigh might just be at the end of his career at the Swans. I reckon he has been given enough chances to perform in the seniors (albeit a premiership winning team )

Interesting that the Swans talked up David Spriggs massively pre-season (commenting on skills and fitness). I wonder whether he will see more gametime next year, or whether he is another Victorian holiday player.

The quiet word from the club is that Malceski will be given some extended on field time early next season. A few of note leaders rate him...

I have no doubt he will be at Sydney next year.

                  Source

Fosdike's year ended when he put his hand up to be traded to Adelaide for the Swans to acquire higher draft picks for trade week.

"It was a bit of a situation in the off-season that the club was looking to trade up for a ruckman or a key positional player," Fosdike said.

"I nearly went back home to Adelaide but it fell through so as far as I am concerned the issue is over.

"All I am doing is looking forward to playing some good football for Sydney.

"I love the club and love all the players. I am pretty settled in Sydney and real happy to be here and can't wait to get into the season."
"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

The club have always regarded J McV as a project player. The reason he wasn't imposing himself on matches early on was that he was only getting 50-60 minutes a match, and most of that in a forward pocket.

He and Malceski will both be expected to step up next year. Absolutely no chance of him going unless he requests a trade.

i said it in another thread, i wouldnt be surprised if mcveigh wanted to go to essendon to be with his brother

i hope he does stay and maybe some increased gametime and a summer of gymwork will get the best out of him. remember it was only a few years ago that we were saying "trade ablett"

He isn't going to Essendon. That would require trading with Kevin Sheedy. Shouldn't be done.

He has said in the past that the only way they'll play together is if Mark comes to Sydney, anyway.

McViegh wont go anywhere. Saddington is the one most likely to be traded. He will go for a KPP, or a ruckman. I see in todays papers they are saying J Hay from hawthorn will be in the market. He is a KPP. What do you think?

Personally, i am not a fan of him, but he would help out in defence, maybe free leo B up a bit, whihc in turn could give Kenelly a bit more of a chance further up the ground.

Also, slightly off topic, but a previous poster mentioned the players he expected to improve next season (they mentioned malcheski (spell?) and Mcviegh. I want to see Moore getting more time on the ground. The small glimpses we saw this year made me think he will be a gun in the future, with great disposal.

and i agree about moore - in a few years he's gonna be a little jet

If we could get Rawlings cheapish, he may be a possible key backman. I suspect he has priced himself out of interest from any sensible clubs though.

With all of that Malceski, Moore and McVeigh staying (and getting game time) talk, we clearly need to bring in someone else with the surname M. Anyone care to nominate the best M-surnamed tradeable player for us? (Hint: Don't say Justin Murphy.) Is Shannon Motlop still available?

I note that the 'M is gold' motif doesn't work for ruckmen. To wit: Mott and Meiklejohn.
