    Blooper of the Year ?

    Leo Barry ?

His switching kick across goal "trying" to pass to a team mate who was in the clear all by himself, yet he over cooks his kick by a long way and sends it sailing out of bounds on the full by a fair way.

At the time I was furious and I mean furious because brisbane got a goal which brought them right back into it and I thought it was going to be the turning point where brisbane were going to overrun us, but as things turned out, I can look back and laugh

I just heard from a mate at the match that Leo's mum was in the crowd and that he promised that if it was a tight finish he would kick the ball to her in the crowd, because it was Mothers Day.

The theory was that the supporters would be so angry at him for a super clanger, that no one would notice her slip the ball into her string bag.

Then after the game Roosey and the boys would sign the footy for her, win lose or draw because they are a bunch of good blokes and they love their mums.

        Great mark Mrs Barry.

Crouch was a serial offender today as well
I was quite surprised to sydney get away with such clangers as brisbane is the best team to make you pay for your clangers
But crouchy made up for it at the end

Leo made three atrocious blunders today, as well as usual mistakes that he (and most others) make. I don't think that is particularly acceptable, although I can live with it if he doesn't do those clangers again.

Thought Leo played a pretty decent game today - notwithstanding a couple of bloopers. Agree that the OOBOTF was pretty atrocious, but we'd be a far less effective team without him than with him.

The story was told by John Longmire at the aftermatch. Got a good laugh!

These clangers from Leo and Crouchy are likely to give us all heart attacks, especially Leo.

However, I think we have to start to come the grips with the fact that this brand of footy is going to have skill errors because it's fairly high risk.

I can take the bad with the good. Even the situation where Tadhg stormed onto a loose ball and then hand balled it straight into the heaviest traffic. It is a bit upsetting at the time but so long as he is doing more good than bad, we will end up ok.

I accept that and I think the intention was correct, however unforced errors, such as Barry made on 3 occasions are terrible. These were not errors made as a result of playing "high-risk" footy. Overall, I thought his game was a bit mixed - a lot more extreme than usual.

Sorry but did someone have a 'shot' at Cressa? The guy has had a great season and has been the most important factor in our current centre ball success.Remember when he wasn't there? He gets 'a million' possies and stuffs two and someone bloody craps on him.....
I thought Leo was ok and does add a spark in the backs but is always likely to stuff up under his 'head pressure'.On a similar note, I thought Mathews was nearly BOG for the second week in a row ....and Jude Bolton is finally showing that he can play productive footy.

I thought Leo had an ok game. The brilliant rebounding made up for the head explosions, more or less. What is pleasing to me is that the players can stuff up, but at the moment I'm more than confident that they will put their heads down and work their way back into the game. Schneides sprayed his first shot for goal, but never stopped coming, same sort of thing with Tiger - I reckon Roosy is deliberately playing him at halfback to force him to learn hard lessons about footy. Once he understands how defenders play, he will rip them up at half-foward!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I agree on Matthews and J Bolton - both were good soloid contributors today, particular Ben.

I also like the fact that the team are willing to take a chance and follow up after their mistakes. This is the hallmark of good, exciting teams.

What I don't like are unforced errors. Barry, Crouch, J Bolton were all particularly guilty of at least one of those yesterday. At least though the rest of their games were good. Crouch did a great job on Aker.

The three mistakes Leo made were:

                              - the shocker OOB to J Bolton

                              - the OOBOTF off his right boot when clear on the wing

                              - the cross goals pass to Kennelly that missed him by a mile and nearly cost a goal as Lynch moved in, but we managed to force it over the line

J Bolton's OOBOTF was also a shocker when he easily had enough time to steady and kick forward.

There were a few others that weren't great either, by both sides.
