Or last weekend (just off the top of my head) Clement kicked straight to Davis 35 metres out in front of goal, just as his team had aroll on and a bit of a sniff. Both worse when you consider that Leppitsch's kick had to be a blinder to take the points.
Crouch's fumble was worse too, set up an easier shot at goal the L's. And again I emphasise that this is just in the last couple of games I happened to have watched this year.
These mistakes happen with monotonous regularity...not that I'm condoning it, but there's no need to stretch the truth."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Sure you'll see worse blunders, but typically they are under pressure. Clement's kick to Davis was just before he was tackled in the back pocket. Crouch was running and about to be tackled by two Brisbane players with no one to give it to. Barry's, however, was when there was no pressure and he had a mark and plenty of time.
Of course you always see mistake, however some make more and some are under less pressure.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Well nmwbloods is my partner in crime on this one, so I wont keep repeating the same stuff we say over and over again, but what he says I say.No.1 ticket holder of Nick Davis Fan Club...Comment

For me, Leo and Ben play what we now call 'high octane, high risk' footy, but it is needed and good for us, as their run out of the backline puts a lot of uncertainty into opposition players -- including whether or not they will stuff up. Most times this seems to work relatively well, but on occasion it doesn't. Leo's attempted pass to Jude WAS the right option but skill (or a rush of blood) let him down. I must admit that every time Leo gets the ball and takes off for a run, dancing round players, going round in circles, my heart is in my mouth. You may have heard me yelling, pointing towards our goal, ' GO that way Leo'...
What I have admired in these two games past is that when the Wobbles and Brizzie got a wriggle on and came at us, we stood tall, soaked up the pressure, then pulled away again. Good teams do that...We've a long way to go, but I think we're at least on the right road now."Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."Comment

I don't think anybody will ever go off at Leo for having a go, as when he does (running out of defense) he normally sets us up very well down the ground.
However the incident on the weekend should not be seen at AFL level. He was kicking to a lose player, no way should be have kicked that ball out on the full.
Shocking mistake, but that is footy and HOPEFULLY he won't repeat that mistake again.
Other mistakes mentioned here were players under pressure, and thats fine because they are having a go. But when you're under no pressure at all, skill level mistakes should be very small, especially when they are as straight forward as that!Comment

No pressure at all !?
Come on, he had to switch play right across the face of goal to kick to someone 40 or 50 metres away on the boundary. If it came off, the Swans would swing into an unstoppable attack and no-one would remember his part in it, if it didn't his enemies would use it to launch a sustained week-long attack on RWO and the Lions would have an outside chance of scoring.

You take one play at a time, you don't necessarily think "Gee if I kick to Jude, he will kick to Cressa, who will kick to Schneids, who will kick to Hall and we will get a goal".
It was a simple straight forward pass. There was no risk, as there wasn't a player with koowee of Jude and nobody in between really.
Fairly straight forward. I reckon I could pull it off with ease.Comment

I dont think there was any pressure at all no.

I'll respectfully disagree with you about the pressure. The longer some players have to kick the ball, in kicks for goal or situations like this, the worse many of them seem to kick. Too much time to think about what could go wrong or whether they have picked the right option. I think that's pressure.

I reckon I could have kicked that wrong foot and been closer to the target.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
