sheedy has done it again. I can't believe we even traded down 4 picks as well!

I guess a follow up of this trade will be that saddo and/or powell will definitely be going because I can't see us having our first pick at 55.

It's a crap draft anyway and Sydney will probably be looking elsewhere for players. ie rookies, suburban comps etc. I finally have faith in them knowing what they are doing.

is an indication we are interested in topping up for a stab at the flag, rather than bringing youngsters in. We do have a lot of young players at the club anyway, we had a lot of rookies this year.

Its a good deal i think

We still have to pick at least 3 from the draft, and doing it with 55, 67 and 83 hardly fills me with any confidence of picking up useful players.

Foxtel site has an article on Everitt. He really wants to come to sydney - but hard to trade with us - apparently Saddo was offered - but they want a top ruckman - like Lane???? and others but we don't have enough bargaining power. ROK was mentioned in the article - but they dont want him need a ruckman. So slight chance Everitt may still get to Sydney.

If the Richards deal is true (and I can't see any confirmation yet on the official Dons site, and how the Dons think their position is improved by going up from 55 to 51 in the draft is beyond me), then it's very very hard to see how we're going to trade Saddo or Powell. Which in turn raises the question of whether Powell will simply be de-listed.

Talk of a rubbish draft is grossly exaggerated. The difference between this and previous drafts is only reasonably pronounced in picks 2-10 (which is irrelevant to us), and then after that two-fifths of bugger all. Have a look through www.footydraft.com and the people who have done a summary of the available talent on bigfooty. You could go player by player through the blokes who will be picked 11-60 in the 2005 draft, form an opinion as to the probability of each of them making it, and... surprise, surprise... find that the net odds are the same as for each draft in the past and every one in the future (barring genetic cloning).

That said, there could be no dispute that picks 67 and 83 are (in this as in every draft) wildly speculative picks, which means that anyone who is dumped runs a very good chance of just being picked up again.

True enough but we might still pick up some 'bargain' delisted players unloved or unwanted by other clubs. The Swans will have a strategy in place, for sure.

Its official, check out the AFL dons site.
Pick 51 is the last of the third round. Apparently they can use that for a F/S and keep their 3rd rounder (#39). So that explains why that happened.

I'm glad we got Richards (I think we need another big body) but your right Sheedy must be one terrifyingly tough negotiator.

Confirmation on the Offical Dons site.

The AFL site is not the official site of the club (think they are the only club to have a seperate site)

Essentially Ted Richards for pick 19 - am happy with this trade we dont really need any youngsters for a while. Will add to our defense - good job

I guess that means Saddo will find it extremely difficult to find a new home - hopefully he stays.

I would like to see Saddo staying, but it must be frustrating to struggle week in, week out and not be ensured of ever cracking into the top 22 again. I can see why he would be looking for more opportunities. Plus, he sold his house a few months ago, perhaps in preparation of such a move?
And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
