i reckon he's worth a shot for a second rounder

he is only 22 and could be groomed into a full back. it was at this time at the end of 02 when we would have all been saying "craig who"

and we all know how he's turned out

As others have said, Sheedy is not shopping him so the usual golden rule doesn't apply.

The 'if they can't play him, why would we?' reasoning would see our team sans Jolly and C. Bolton, and considerably poorer for it.

He's a 194cm player whose body has developed, with no fatal flaws to his game (cf Spriggs), doesn't appear to be a di**head (now that is the golden rule), no apparent chronic injury problems, a bit of big league experience and many years of service left in him. We need another tall defender (at worst, as back-up, but ideally to free Leo to play a more creative role). No-one could seriously doubt that Richards is a better player than Powell at the moment. To get him in a straight swap for Powell would be the deal of the century; more realistically, either straight swap for Saddo, or Powell + 2nd rounder.

I'd be happy to welcome him to the club.

Same, doubt the Doggies would let Big Willie go. If we were to trade Saddo to the Dogs, i assume it would be like for like. Say Bowden for Saddington.

General vibe of SnDon supporters I have spoken to is that they would like to retain him as they see him as a young KP player with potential.

Talk of another Sheedy dud trade is not the case this time as he has walked from the club for lack of opportunity.

Would be a good get for a second rounder.

Word from Draft camp is that the initial analysis that the draft is thin was correct and that anything outside of the top 20 are going to be hail mary's.

Next year is the year for deep talent.

Richards caught my eye a while back. He's skilful, and can play in a variety of positions.

I'm not surprised he's thinking of leaving Essendon - their selection policy last year was absurd, even for Sheedy. Richards would play a good game, get dropped, and they'd bring back a loser like Cupido. (at least there's no talk of us taking him!) They also couldn't make up their mind whether he was a forward or a backman.

As long as we don't lose anyone really significant for him, I reckon he could be good. Main point is not to give too much for him - Powell/Saddo swap plus something for us could be good, because both those guys aren't going to get much game time next year in the red and white.

Pardon my ignorance here, but if he's "walked" from the bummers, and isn't under contract, then surely he has to put up for the draft, or is he still contracted to the bummers in which instance he can be traded....

players remain contracted until just after the National draft from memory, so they can still trade him this week - if he's not traded, then he comes out of contract at the end of November and can nominate for the pre-season draft

I agree, I doubt they would let him go, however, he would be a very handy pickup. He started to play some really good games for the Dogs after Darcy went down.

Hun, this morning, under the heading "Inside Trading" on page 85 (Cannot find the article on the web, so no link) has the following :

Sydney looks like missing out on luring Brisbane ruckman Beau McDonald but is believed to be trying its luck with teammate Clark Keating. The Swans asked about Keating's status yesterday and the Lions may consider a deal given they need to free up salary cap room to make a play for disgruntled Roo Daniel Motlop
                        There's a name I hadn't heard yet ...

We're going to be linked to every 6'8" giant running around in the AFL this week aren't we.

I used to be a massive fan of Crackers but I reckon injury has finally taken it's toll of the big fella. As good as he was in 2003, nearly Norm Smith, he's just not physically capable IMO.

Of the current "gettable" gun ruckmen out there, I wish list is:

Spida (the week isn't over yet Clarko)
                          Brogan (surely he hates Choco)
Ryan (Carlton couldn't keep him surely - deserves a chance with
                          the best under Roos)
                          Minson (over Rocket's dead body)
Laycock (loads of talent but Kevin's favourite)

Can't see us being able to lure any of these, but stranger things have happened!

He's **********e - and name the players that have SNDon have moved on that have had great careers.

He will be horse, dressed as mutton dressed as lamb.

Do not trade with SNDon is the golden rule of trading no-one does well from it

Sheedy is the past master at bringing players into his side to fool the unwary.

If he couldn't get a regular game their - he shouldn't at Sydney

I heard talk on radio this morning or last night which mentioned the possibility of a Daniel Bandy / Saddington swap. I don't know that much about Bandy (age etc), but I can recall him playing a couple of good games against us for Freo.
                                oh well, maybe next time......
