In other news, Fremantle have delisted Dion Woods, he's too old/experienced for a Rookie spot but perhaps a late pick in the draft? Thoughts
Could be alright - from what I have seen of him he has a good leap is quick and has long arms - could add depth.

I was actually thinking that if Willo retires next year we should maybe pick up woewoful (I know he is soft) but he is ok and will add some outside midfield depth and he has alright skills

Didnt realise that Doyle has played that many.

I wonder what the realistic expectation of how many more games each will play throughout the remainder of their career is ?

Doyle's injuries appear on the surface unrelated. (Knee, foot), so perhaps nothing cronic at this stage.

I'd rather see Moore, Malceski or Schmidt have a go. We still have Spriggs too.

I am ********ting myself about the Spida deal. My feeling is it could be Roos first big draft screw up. I hope we don't trade for him outside of Powell, Saddo and McVeigh. But Roos is smart, I have faith...

Another Colliwobbles convert? Recent history suggests that this could be a good move.

Dunno, but Fremantle have always had a serious problem in their list/man management so it may not be a deficiency in Woods.

I did like his reach and speed, he's a different sort of player to anyone currently on our list.

Woefull's not quick or hard or young, I think we should give him a miss.

Hope Spida is able to come up.

I am reasonably comfortable with our first premiership coach in 72 years making a call on who comes to us, who goes etc lol.

I thought anyone could be traded, however if they are already contracted the individual has to accept and they are able to decline.........in which case no trade could be done.
That applies contracted or not - the player(s) involved must agree to any trade.

An uncontracted player though can throw his hat into the draft ring if he chooses. Just put his price and conditions on it and whoever picks up the hat gets him.

Bring the Spida on whatever it costs.

We moved heaven & earth to try to get Ottens last year - Spida will spend more time on the paddock in 3 years than Ottens will in 6.

You need to be bold & brave at trade time (w/o being bold & stoopid) otherwise you look like the Pies in 3 yrs time.

Couldn't agree more - but these guys aren't ready yet - maybe 2 years time thats why i said Woey might be worthwhile - experience could be useful - spriggs is no good.

I think we all are mate - no premiership players need to be traded am happy to trade

                        Saddo
                        Powell
                        Macca
and our first and second round picks

I think they are smart they wont do anything drastic unless it is a significant improvement to our team

As ScottH noted, one good season in 2004.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

                              McVeigh? Why
If it means getting Spida then I dont see any problems - you have to give a little to get something in return..........after all he is all australian and 3 quality years out of him and we could be there abouts again

I like the kid (macca), but for a top 5 pick I think we could pick up something worthwhile for him, and I think he would behind a few other midfielders at the club (Monty, schneids, noggy, fossie, and bevo).........and I think we have enough up and comers to suggest that our midfield should be ok (schmidt, willowby, moore and mal)

I dont mean to sound stupid but why spida....he is old....can we not find someone 5 years younger who we can have for many years ahead...

I do like spida...its not a "i hate spida" thing...but lets think our longer term future...not just for the next year
