Thats three premiership coaches and one GF coach who wanted his services. As the article states 'hot property'.
I am very pleased we got him, and I believe he will be an excellent addition to our current premiership side.
he has a lot to offer, essendon will regret it i thinkTheres not much left to sayComment

For what it's worth, from an Essendon supporter's point of view, the deal seems fair.
Richards, as mentioned, struggled to get a game partly because he was vying for a spot (rebounding HB) for which we had a surplus of players.
One thing I'd say is that I wouldn't have too higher hopes of using him as a KP defender - he's not shown much in terms of holding key forward down.
His ideal spot is a third tall rebounding defender.
I think Essendon did quite well to get a 1st round pick, but Richards isn't a dud, he just didn't have a spot in out best 22.
Make of that what you will,Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Pls give me a name to disprove my theory.
Anyway, I enjoy the footy experts on RWO bag players when they come to the Swans. It's usually a guarantee they will be a success. Didn't Jolly cop a bit last year.
Can we still draft Ottens? In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Being frank about it, and let me say I hope he turns out to be ok, but this kid has two black marks against him
1 Former S&Don - as mentioned none get away and are any good BArnes and J Madden probably the only ones
2 Xavier College - APS school - do any good players come from APS ever? Generally not, soft as usuallyYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

There are three who I don't think you can accuse of being "soft".Comment

Now we have only pick #55. Our one hope of getting any value out of the 2006 draft is gone.
Next years crop is supposed to be very good with plenty of depth.
This is the perfect time for us to top up after a premiership and have another big go at the premiership in 2006.
Regardless of how we go next year (boom or bust) we trade for early draft picks next year and rebuild with a bumper crop.

It's pretty much the elite schoolboy league in Victoria. There's eleven teams - I think they are Scotch, Haileybury, Xavier, St Kevins, Wesley, Melbourne, Brighton, Caulfield, Carey and Geelong Grammars and Geelong College. We hate Anthony Rocca
We hate Shannon Grant too
We hate scumbag Gaspar
But Leo WE LOVE YOU!Comment

Teams cant even tell which is the best order to pick players in a draft, so I cant see how they can judge a draft quality overall, much less a year in advance.

You say that, but will it really happen. When Roos came on board he said the 1st round draft picks werent tradable. In the last 2 years we've sold them off without a quarm. Do you really think we wont do it again?
We would not have won the premiership this year if Roos and the club had not made the decision they would trade for a big mature ruckman in Jolly.
We have one more shot or at best two with this group of players. I see nothing wrong with the club rolling the dice again this year in the draft in order to help us do that.
If doesn't work we go back to rebuilding (in a rumoured strong draft) next year.
