Milne - never on Essendon's senior list
Mahoney - never on Essendon's senior list
Kingsley - never on Essendon's senior list
Montgomery - never on Essendon's senior list
Jacobs - done nothing at Hawthorn
Wanganeen - one off case with Port's inclusion into the AFL, wouldn't have left otherwise

I always wondered what it was with Bolton (of Essendon). At least now I know it is "insane love". Makes things a lot clearer.

Yes but Kevin, err Dudley Essendon still had first choice of these guys as you are right they were on your Reserves list, therefore you lost them.

Sorry didn't want to go too far back and mention Merv Neagle, Roger Merrett, Justin Madden or Glenn Manton.

Essendon fans seem to like him, and callers on Melb radio last evening were giving him a rap as better than Bolton or Henneman and just not getting picked. One caller in particular said he is a good mark and runs straight and hard out of defence...at 194 cms I think I could live with that!

Dont think his football skills are as good as Saddo though. At 22, Saddo is already in our best 22 with excellent football skills. We destroyed him by asking him to play a position (CHB) which he does not suit to.
I wouldn't call Saddos foot skills excellent. There are several areas that Saddington lacks in that Richards may be able to improve on:

                  1. He is too easily outmuscled for someone of his size
                  2. He often goes up for marks but rarely comes down with them
                  3. He doesn't know when to spoil instead of attempt a mark, often resulting in easy opposition marks.
                  4. His versatility is a weakness, jack of all trades master of none.
                  5. He is 25 years old and does not have as much time for improvement as Richards.

Great knowing this far out. We should tank the season and go for priority picks. Get Nos 1 and 5 and the sky's the limit!

Just threw out the old cutouts from the 2002 and 2003 drafts. They were who each club picked and what they thought. Made very interesting reading. Everyone was rapt with their choices and they were all going to be great players. But a close look revealed many, at least a clear majority, had not made it. Some had already gone from the system. If that is any guide getting Jolly, Richards and Chambers is not a bad move. At least they can play at AFL level, some other club has paid for their development and they are old enough not to want to go home. The draft is a lottery. Funnily enough, looking at Sydney's choices those years we had fared as well as anyone else, and a lot better than most.

According to the age article all we need is some cosmic dust and an old, dark storeroom.
Super Ted here we come (he'll fit in well with B1 & B2) perhaps we could nickname Chhambers Dorothy the Dinosaur?
Of course if he's going to reside in the eastern suburbs he may find plenty of vacated closets and fairy dust . . . would that do?
