Exactly. A lot of people dont realise that Adam Goodes essentially plays on the wing most of the time.

I know a bucketload of people who support the heathens in Red and Black who are mightily annoyed Ted Richards isn't there any more.

To be honest, I'd rather have the problem of trying to shoehorn 28 blokes into 22 spots than only having 20 and playing 2 blokes who aint necessarily up to it.

And nice to finally manage to find this site. I was wondering if we had a Fansite like this.

My dad would agree with you. He's been a Swan since about 1940, and He's told me numerous times that Ron Clegg was an absolute gun.

And had the pleasure of meeting Nashy once at the Lake Oval when I was about 10. I asked him what he thought of Graham Teasdale and the reply was something like "He can play a bit, but I'd have beaten him one handed". I became a member of the Laurie Nash fan club then and there I think.

As a young kid I used to sometimes sit with Ron Clegg and Nashy in the old South Melbourne grandstand watching the game. I didn't ever see Nashy play but I did see Ron Clegg play in the years immediately following his Brownlow win. I have never met anybody who saw him play that didn't say Nashy was the best player of his generation. Nashy would say 'of any generation'.

Clegg was all class and a great mark and kick but as as good as he was he wasn't close to Skilts as a player. Skilts was a lousy high mark ( he was quite small) and not a speedster but no one during his time and since had his combination of kicking skills off both feet, his ability to baulk and weave, his courage, his endurance and pure inspirational leadership skills. Skilts brought all his team mates into the play by his absolutely deadly stab passes and hand balls. He is a unique player. Both Ron Clegg and Skilts were club captains but they really can't be compared IMO. Clegg won one Brownlow, Skilts 3 in poor sides with losing rucks.

Met Ted Richards at the Melb family day...seems a really nice guy, and says that he is really settling in well at the club. I reckon he will represent the club well both on and off the field. Good Luck to you Ted
