Regular contributors to this website will be stunned and dismayed to learn that Troy G sadly and suddenly passed away today. Troy was a learned, spirited, no holds barred lover of this site, a mad fan of the Swans and an institution in community radio and community sports reporting in Sydney. His passing will leave many of us the poorer as his great sense of humour and friendly banter will be greatly missed. RIP Troy, a short but full life.

That is awful newsI knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time -
I am in shock, Troy was a regular contributor to RWO, giving great insight into the Sydney AFL scene.
RIP
For those that don't know about Troys contributions take a look here

Terrible news. I only have the capacity to comment on what I knew of him from here and his contributions will be sadly missed. Thanks for letting us know c-fox.Comment

That's not nice. That's not nice at all. Troy had some good humour. Atleast he witnessed a Swans Premiership.
RIP all ze way!Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.Comment

Troy was only 38. His family have been informed and his brother will be in Sydney tomorrow. It is likely that he will be returned to Queensland, the state he loved, especially during Rugby League State of Origin time where his passion to hate the blues was all too evident. A true sports lover and Queenslander.Comment

I'm shocked and saddened by this news.
On behalf of the NSW/ACT local footy, I'd like to acknowledge on this thread Troy's contribution to RWO. It was Troy who first suggested that this site should cover the local footy competition, and Troy then wrote the weekly columns from 2001 to 2003. He was also a regular and valued contributor to the NSW/ACT Footy board on RWO.
We have lost one of our own. A sad day for Sydney football and for RWO. Condolences to his family and friends.
