Guerra would have all these guys ahead of him as potential re-drafts by us at pick 50plus IMO:
    Matthew Smith,Chris Ladhams (Adelaide)
    Tom Logan,Leigh Ryswyk,Llane Spaanderman,Travis Baird (Brisbane)
    Brett Johnson,Digby Morrell,Nick Becker (Carlton)
    Shane Woewodin,Tom Davidson (Collingwood)
    Marc Bullen (Essendon)
    Dion Woods,Andrew Siegert (Fremantle)
    David Haynes (Geelong)
    Steven Greene (Hawthorn)
    Ashley Watson (Kangaroos)
    Steven Armstrong (Melbourne)
    Kasey Green (West Coast)

From the above list I think we should seriously consider Armstrong, Baird, Watson and Green.

Ladhams won't be nominitating for a draft - He says he's happy playing SANFl.

What on earth do you do to get delisted at Freo?

Who knows, perhaps we could ask Peter Bell or Spider Burton?

Certainly they have in the passed had some insane list management techniques.

Not get a kick all year at Perth would be a good start.I watched a number of games of WAFL on ABC2 this year and Perth had listed players Damien Adkins,Andrew McDougall,Dion Woods and Sam Butler all playing a number of games.Butler was very good,Adkins good every 2nd game,McDougall 1 in 3 or 4 and Woods looked like he wanted to go to the beach as he was giving off very poor body language.

I reckon we should have a look at Kasey Green from WCE, he has played well in the limitted chances that he has had.

Pretty tough call to be delisted after coming back into your team for the grand final after playing only 2 games all year, making the best players, and go within a kick of being a premiership player.

That said, he ain't for us. 26 years old, well and truly settled in WA (after only playing 54 games for WCE in 6 years he'd know his East Fremantle team-mates pretty well), and doesn't really play anywhere other than as a mid-sized defender. We've got plenty of them.

Steven Armstrong has plenty of talent, but his record over 4 years ain't flash. Again I'd prefer a 'blue sky' player to one who has known problems.

Ashley Watson who got picked at #14 in the 2002 draft is just about the personification of the problem with the draft-- it's a lottery. No doubt his junior form more than justified the selection (straight after Nick dal Santo!), and since then he hasn't had chronic injuries, drug problems etc. He simply hasn't come up to the mark to play AFL football. And over 50% of those picked up in the draft-- including many of those picked early-- will wind up being just like him.

At the risk of being beheaded, I think there's no getting around the fact that the pick of the delisted players is Woewodin. Doesn't fit into Sydney's style at all, and there's no reason that we'd even look at him, but he's perfect for the role of defensive sweeper in one of those Victorian 'build slowly from the back half' style of teams.

I've posted elsewhere about Spaaaaanderman. I can only infer that he must fail the 'no ****heads' test, b/c I can't work out any other reason for his delisting. Surprised if he wasn't gone before pick #52 anyway. None of the other Brisbane boys offer anything for us.

In short-- I don't see any recycled talent that's for Sydney. The closest fit would have been McLaren, but with 5 specialist ruckmen now on our senior list, that idea is dead.

Kasey Green is regarded as a midfielder by WC. Just can't fit into their midfield line up.

Watson has had injury problems. Not long heavy ones, like reconstructions, but a lot of minor ones. A good outside player.

Armstrong has been hard done by at Melbourne. Great debut season. Deserves another chance, but we don't need him.

Praps we should try Shane Harvey from the Roos (And Essendon) seems to have no application. Roosy might be able to sort him out though - As he certainly has talent.

You're right, but that's the up-side of this draft. We have no pressing needs - we can simply top-up with the best players. The choice isn't between meeting one need or the other, it's between choosing depth players that will be ready now or players that will be ready in 2008.

                        That's a luxury.

Sorry but Shane Harvey would have a lot of trouble with the Rick Barham rule.

Armstrong was pretty badly injured in the 2002 Bali bombings. He had a very promising debut but has struggled since his injuries. Whether there are any lasting physical or psychological effects, I have no idea. But he is a player who might "come good" in time.

How true! and how things have changed since, when, September?

What ever happened to the "we'll never win a premiership until we find a tall key defender and experienced outside midfielder" talk that seemed to appear in every other thread.
