    Crowds on the up...

31,000 today... a refreshing sign for the SCG. I've been worried about our performances there... hopefully though we can keep up the momentum with another 30k+ crowd next week. If we keep winning... 40k hopefully isn't entirely out of the question for the Hawthorn game.

Lots of first timers at the game today... It was a good crowd but seemed very quiet..must have been all that basking in the sun...The O Reilly bar ran out of beer too, BTW..but there were no riots..LOL

Not a great game but a solid win..especially after the trip to SA..

Good crowd considering it was a non Victorian team and that the NRL had match of the round at Telstra Stadium which seemed to have a good crowd. So all in all most likely the most impressive crowd we have got all year including the ones at TS

I struggle to see how they could fit another 14,000 people in the ground - it looked bigger than 31k. Certainly all the public areas looked chocka block.

The official seating capacity is something like 43,500. Obviously, it's had more than that on occasion.

Good to see a decent crowd - hopefully a few more like that will ease financial problems - WC have always drawn pretty well.

            Not a loud crowd though

I've got to stop agreeing with you so much Reggi

My wife said exactly the same - for nearly 32,000 crowd it was very quiet out there today.

Maybe next weekend, a night game, and a more "lubricated" crowd there might be a bit more noise

So it wasn't just me. Even the O'Reilly (my future home?)was eirily quiet today. Especially in the third quarter there was this total lull over everyone. But hey, you could actually hear the Cheer Squad for a change!

Heaps of newbies today. I took the opportunity to wander around at half time where a big group of Irish people were brandishing flags (a certain Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club member I know was wanting to be the first person to murder people at a sporting stadium!!). Looking up there was a considerable dirth of Swans supporter gear.

Still those are the cards we are dealt with as a side in a developing market in a city not famous for its love of sport. They to our crowds improving is how the newspaper and TV station cover it. If we hit the back pages of the Terror tomorrow, expect 35000 on Saturday night. Hopefully all will be inside the ground before quarter time then too.

Hint to the bandwagoners-you may want to rock up at the game without a ticket at 7:05. But there may well be 10-15000 in the same boat as you. South Dowling & Cleveland Streets may well be clogged, as they generally are!!!! So bear this in mind when you are taking out the Ranger Rover and paying $13 for parking.

as lizz has commented i dont know how we couldve got another 11000 people in, i thought it wouldve at least been 35-36k, around in bay 32 it was pretty packsed with a few spare seats here and there

pies ran out at 1/2 time, what a joke!

id also like to know how many people didnt bother actually coming in after the parking filled up, as the ground was pretty full when i got there, 10 mins in to the 1st quarter (traffic whole way down was pretty bad)... but i thought there woudve been at least another 1-2000 people stuck in the traffic still at that stage

great to see people returning, and the weather was awesome, hopefully that wasnt the only reason why everyone was there
                    C'mon Chels!

The four points were taken in front of their biggest home crowd for three years ? 31,121 (of which an astonishing 5000 were walk-ups) ? and sees them consolidate fifth spot on the ladder.

Very encouraging regarding the 5000 walk-ups hopefully with the win, we will get even more on Saturday night.

It was quite empty on the terrace seating under the bradman stand, but still 31,000, with 5,000 "walkup" sales, was pretty good. I remember saying to my wife that I wondered where the extra 8,000 to 10,000 (from our more usual crowds of late) came from, especially given that it was a perth team we were playing...and YES, not much atmosphere for such a good crowd, not a lot of chanting or singing....
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

The non-members crowd would have been more like 12/13,000, when you allow for the Melbourne memberships.

What a glorious day to be at the footy!

The beer ran out in the Ladies Stand too and the service was amateur at best. They were actually pouring from bottles into the cups as you ordered them.

We should have been in the lines no longer than 5 minutes but this was blowing out to 20.

If they want to put 40,000 in there, they better make it BYO!
