I am aware that these players earn big money and are professional sportsmen, and therefore have to pretty much put up with it because it's basically part of the territory. That's no real news flash ...

However in saying that some of the greatest footballers or jockeys in the world all sit in grandstands. The bloke in the stand never rides a bad race.

That's not a go at supporters for having an opinion, but is must be frustrating and not exactly comforting, for a player to read some of the things that are said about them on here.

If a player can't get a bit of support from his own backyard, how does his confidence and or self belief ever become something other than non existent?

Easy. He grows a togher hide so that he sees comments like these and works harder at his deficiencies, rather than go into his shell and start to doubt himself. He was taken at pick 3 in the draft, so obviously hes got some skill. If he reads this stuff and lies down and admits hes not good enough, then he obviously isnt.

There are the naturally gifted athletes that seem to be able to do it all without training or match practice (Davis, O'Loughlin) and then there are the workhorses that have to put in the hard yards to be successful (Crouch, Kirk, Mathews). Fosdike is probably a mix between the two atm.

I'm not going to wax lyrical about Fozzie's stats/hairstyle/choice of sleeping partner. No, instead I'm going to reiterate the same point I have made to anyone who ever had a pair of ears which are operational over the last two years-TRADE HIM!!!

Surely the Club has been made aware of the practise of "Cutting losses" over the years to understand the inherent value contained in getting rid of him. He'll look really good in the Poo'n'Wee colours next year. He may even be worth that Fullback that the club should have been looking at doing something about prior to Dunkley's departure.

Definitely a passenger-only, he's missed his boat.

He'll never be B&F, he'll never replace Kelly/Schwass/Cressa. Give up on the sentiments, give up on the obvious wasted investment of time and money since he's been at the club.

James is probably more suited for the half back line. He is too attacking for a full back. Will come good. He has played less than 20 games.

good call. i know that this started out as a fosdike thread and i agree that he is playing well below par, it just seemed that the thread had morphed into who was not playing well and that was my 2 cents worth. it's not like i couldn't single out others who aren't playing well, just that Heath's story seems to cloud some people's judgement.

Spot on. You could also argue that one of these games cost Goodes winning the Brownlow in his own right.

Or you could have a look and see what other players polled with a grand total of 9 or less.

and you could also say if Goodes had have played better in those games he would have won it out right himself. Fossie may be down on form, but so are MANY others.

One ordinary game doesn't mean he's dropped and forgotten. He's one of our best midfielders at the moment. He had plenty of mates who couldn't deliver the ball on Sunday. Things are tough at the moment. stick with them. We need Mickey and Schaubs.
