i agree with all your points but just thought i'd have a "magic moment" remembering that one goal that wasn't from roving the pack, or more specifically the mark that led to it.

The thing is, there's a lot of doubt about Mick's ability to do that stuff any more. I really think he's going to be restricted to within 30 metres of goal for the rest of his career. That part of the ground doesn't have a lot of space - the goalsquare is the logical place for Mick.

The true magic is his ability to find space then a way past the opposition to the goal. He ain't Lloyd. But I suspect his roving will be within the 50 (SCG 45) from now on.

WHICH backs up my argument to play him in the pocket rather than FF as his greatest strength IMO is his roving capacity.
Have to agree with this given that this is the most likely option to help prolong his carreer rather than using him as a marking target.
Pity though, his marking on a lead, in particular his leap that turns what is an overhead mark into a chest mark, is a highlight of his game.

Why wouldn't Micky be able to do what he did last year? He'll probably struggle for the first one or 2, but look out after that. I agree that at this stage of his career he's best suited to FF, but you seem to be suggesting that he's going to be one dimensional and a liability. I can't have that. With a few games injury-free he'll be doing plenty.

no matter what, he takes a key defender and he brings others into the play. remember that "a quiet one......for magic" tends to mean he only does one freaky thing. look at the brisbane game where it looked like he had screwed the kick off the side of his boot and it went straight to an unmarked davis IIRC. now magic didn't really have a huge influence in that game but still did some stuff that we just expect, because it's him. go magic, you rock!

The fact that Saddo is named at CHB bothers me. Where players are named generally means nothing, but him being named at CHB tells me that they still see him has a Key Position backman.

I'm a bit confused by that comment - on the one hand you say you know where players are named means nothing, then turn around and about face.

The reality is that it's a way of naming 18 definites and 7 others which will be trimmed to 4 when named for a Sunday game, and the 22 for earlier games, but the players named even on I/C often end up starting the game on the ground and vice versa. What's to say Saddo will even start on the ground for one, and if he does, that he will start at CHB.

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Anyone named on the ground must play those on the bench do not and if you do pull one of the starting 22 then you receive a fine. so I believe.

Don't that have to give a starting lineup approx 15-20(?) mins b4 the game to the AFL and this is the team that must take the field. Changes cannot be made until after the first bounce. That is why you, sometimes see players running off as soon as the bounce is done.

PS. I will try and find out for sure.
