The othe thing about the way Barry runs (particularly compared with McPhee) is that he doesn't take huge strides. He is one of those players who runs with a lot of very quick short steps, which suits his preference for dodging as much as possible. Yeah I think you (and Bam Bam) are right - it was 2002 that Benny F won the best first year player. But I think it was that year (ie 2002) that Kennelly was edged out for it (when I and my table thought he was a shoe-in) because he only played a handful of tentative AFL games in 2001.
