While I am happy to see the Swans flourish in Sydney and wholey accept the circumstances us Victorian based supporters have had to accept to see our team live on, I totally would like to think that I can understand what Robbie and Charlie and the like have to say, even if I am not as passionate about heir cause.

When the Swans relocated to Sydney, the big selling point for us was that even though we wouldn't get to go to every game, they would be televised.

Back then, that meant that we were able to travel to the other 11 games that were played in Victoria if we wanted to see the our team play.

Now I find myself missing games because it becomes a major task to organise people to get out and see the game with.

This is compounded by the club not even letting us know which bars will be showing the games on Fox Footy.

I DO pay for the ads.
By watching them during the game.
That is the very essence of an ad...

The Swans are supposed to discuss this matter with the AFL so they can either come to some agreement with Foxtel of keep it in mind when the TV rights are renegotiated.

On the first point, you don't pay the networks for showing the ads which was my point, and as a minority audience, have little power to change things when up against larger audience, e.g. Vic teams' audiences. If you still want to argue that you 'pay' for the ads, larger audiences 'pay' more, so either way...

On the second point, by saying we have to negotiate better you have admitted that, as with the # of Melb games, there is nothing that can be done about this season! Contracts are in place - there is nothing you can do about it, and the AFL is not going to be persuauded to break the TV rights contract, by the Swans or their Melbourne-based supporters.

Can't agree more with you CTS.

It just irks me that tonight, a Roos or Wobbles fan, can

a) go to the game,
b) wait an Hour and watch it on tele,
c) listen to it on MMM,
d) listen to it on 3AW,
e) listen to it on ABC radio.

As a Sydney (or Dogs) fan can,

a) go to a dirty smelly noisy pub,
b) try and listen to it on AFL.COM.AU audio, (I've never been able to get this working)(Edit:still can't get the piece of crap too work)
c) Subscribe to Foxtel @ about $50 - $60/mth (and wait six months for installation)
d) Watch the scores tick over on AFL.COM.AU live scores.
e) watch Wild Wild West and read the scores in tomorrows paper.
f) Fly to Sydney

Do you see the fair comparison here??

they can go to the movies and see The Day After Tomorrow, and then log on and read how the game progressed in the Sydney vs Dogs thread

Bear, I'm not gonna argue with you mate.
I know what you are trying to say, and rest assured I will do what I can at the end of the season.
You just never know how and when things can change with the AFL, especially as Sydney is an important team to them.

I've said what I have to say, and if you don't understand how missing 4 of the first 10 games can really piss you off, then so be it

As I am also from the North of Melbourne and don't have Foxtel at present, I go to Bells Hotel in South Melbourne to watch these games. The Bells has 2 big screens and another 2 decent sized screens and is garuanteed to show the game and have fellow Swans fans in attendance due to an email sent out by the Swans Melbourne-based office every week detailing where the Swans games will be shown live.

The food at the Bells is great as well.

If you do not want to go to Hotels why not suggest to Morwood that the Melbourne office set up for games out of Melbourne to be shown live on Foxtel in a room and invite all members in melbourne to a community gathering and get the vibes going as a group.

janpa, they were doing that, at Bob Jane Stadium, then the soccer team were stuffed and they stopped.

Then they organised Rye, which is miles from everyone.

And this is my point.

There are so many other options that the club have, and none will breach any TV rights deals.

How about sending a list of Foxtel pubs who will be televising the game?
I am SURE Foxtel would be more than happy to encourage people to watch their telecast.

How about organising a different venue, say in the city?
One venue for all Vic Swans fans to go to and then can get out after the game from.

Or simply enquire as to otehr options of televising the games against the 'rock solid, air tight, unbreakable, unwavering' TV rights deal.
I mean, it can't hurt to ask, can it?
