    Hall to face tribunal

    Hall to face tribunal

Sydney's Barry Hall has been reported for striking Western Bulldogs captain Chris Grant by the league's investigations officer Rick Lewis.

The incident, which occurred during the last term of Saturday night's clash at the SCG, wasn't captured by the host broadcaster but after interviewing the relevant parties on Monday, Lewis decided Hall had a case to answer.

Of the footage that was available, Grant is seen writhing on the ground in some discomfort with the Swans forward the nearest player next to him.

Meanwhile, video reports officer Ian Robinson has charged Carlton's Simon Wiggins and St Kilda's Nick Dal Santo for making contact with field umpire Colin Rowston in the third quarter of Sunday's match at Telstra Dome.

Robinson also charged Hawk Rick Ladson with making unnecessary and unreasonable contact with the foot to Ben Hart during the third quarter of Saturday's match at the MCG.

All cases will be heard on Tuesday night.

    You must be absolutely joking.

Daniel Kerr gets his charge withdrawn and Barry has one to answer!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You'd have to reckon he's a gonna then. They wouldn't be taking it to the tribunal if Grant hadn't indicated that he was prepared to testify that he was hit, or unless an umpire actually saw it. And Grant would then look very stupid if he said less at the tribunal than he has said to the investigating officer. With no video evidence to "clear" Barry, they are almost certainly going to have to take Grant at face value.

        BULL****.

No impartial evidence = no fair trial = no fair penalty.

We taped yesterdays Sunday Football Show and they showed what they could of the incident twice. What I found very interesting was in the background watching while BBB was walking away from the incident was an umpire. The umpire was looking at Grant as if to indicate, get up idiot, you not going to fool me. He didn't look the least concerned that Hall did anything to Grant.

Another thing is that the incident happened not all that far from the Scraggers Cheer Squad, and I don't recall hearing much of a reaction from them.

Grant probably squeeled because he is still dirty on losing the Brownlow due to being reported, for which he was as guilty as hell, but the warm and fuzzy Melbourne press that drools over him, screamed for him to get off.

B Grant what is his problem as you say previously if he has to appear they either have evidence or report from Grant.
B Hell we need Hall and why can't their be evidence of what a d
Grant is by taking a fall - what about compensation for Hall for all the frees the lousy b umpires missed.

Hmmmm. Unless there's some credible explanation for Grant demonstrating his newest Break-Dance moves, I'd guess that Baz'll get 2-4

What everyone has to keep in mind is that the AFL after the Darcy/Crawford incident a few weeks back, came out and said that any player faking being hit, just so they can get a free kick will themselves have to face punishment for it. So you can only think what kind of position the AFL has put Grant in, when he is faced with, tell them them he was faking it for the free kick and get fined/suspended himself, or tell them Hall hit him and don't get fined/suspended.

The AFL are the ones to blame, because now if Grant was faking for the free, he will have to lie to keep himself out of trouble. Just not good enough in my book, the AFL should of left thing as they were.
                        Once was, now elsewhere

Just saw Tiffany Cherry's report on WLF. How can they take Hall to the tribunal based on an "alledged strike"... usually it IS or it ISN'T!!!
I can not decribe with out using very very violent language how angry I am at the moment.

PS. Leo Barry is on WLF tomorrow!

I don't see how they could believe one person's story over anothers. Surely if Grant says he did it and Hall says he didn't and that Grant was acting they can't believe Grant rather than Hall.

Exactly. Its one player's word against the other's. For Bazza to be convicted, an umpire will need to testify. The umpire was on the spot, and didnt award a free or even reprimand Bazza - in fact, eye witness accounts from RWO say that the ump was telling Grant to get up (no bias on RWO, im sure!).

Conclusion: Bazza will be fine to play against the Saints. No need to worry!
