    Swans flag just flew by

An enormous Swans flag, followed by an enormous Pies flag just flew across the small bit of blue sky visible from my desk.

Good to see some promotion going on.

Todays Herald Sun in Melbourne said a crowd of 70,000 + was expected. Any talk of ticket sales in the media up in Sydney?

Weather looks like it is going to be kind to us, much better team in the dry than the Pies are.

We've got to push Joey Johns off the back page first.
God the ARU are good at getting headlines for nothing stories.

They putting on a special train (?) for Collingwood fans to get to the game.

They just flew by Pennant Hills Hornsby area - but missed it - my son rang and said they were two huge jerseys - real mad.
Tickets going well - unable to get a single ticket yesterday between bays on concourse area on southern? side of stadium.
Managed one in swans members reserve.
          Love those Swans

Maybe a better promotion would be to stage a punch up between Holland and Williams down at the Opera House - or a WWF-style wrestling match between Eddie & Baron-Hay

I thought you were talking metaphorically there...about how our only chance of a flag has flown us by.

Darren Lockyer from the Brisbane Bronco's has a wonderful kick and his profile has this:

"Darren was born in Brisbane on the 24th of March, 1977 He played both Rugby League and Aussie Rules in his schoolboy days, and was leaning towards choosing Aussie Rules as his preferred sport. It was at that stage that the family moved to Roma, about 500km south west of Brisbane. Being a traditional country town, the choice of sports was Rugby League, Rugby League, and, well Rugby League. "

The AFL should just go and cause a big storm and try and sign him lol.

Didn't Mark Williams say that Lote Tquiri could easily make the transition to AFL ?

Oh! A special train for collingwood supporters! Just like special schools for the disabled, only more special.

I guess if it was really a special train for Collingwood supporters, it would have the following:
                        • All the signs on the train replaced by signs written using only words of one syllable.
                        • A fully staffed police station, so that Collingwood supporters on parole can report to the police, to keep the peace on the train, and to provide protection to those few Collingwood supporters that can read and write.
                        • Information counselling on such difficult topics as personal hygiene and what dentists are.
                        • A hotline to all the prisons in Melbourne so the supporters can talk to their mates who aren't out yet
                        • A urinal the length of the train so Collingwood supporters can feel at home

perhaps because it is earlier in the season, but I haven't heard much at all compared to the hype from last years game.

Hopefully towards the end of the week it will pick up. All seems a bit flat at the moment. Perhaps I'm just tuned in correctly yet.

I feel the same. I guess Ayres quitting and Hawthorn's dud list is more important at this time of the week. Theres alot of news about the Pies though, esp in the HUN (some cab fight, and something about not crucifying the pies).

The weekend game will be the centre of attention come thursday and friday though.

Seriously, re: the train, I read that and thought "why aren't the Swans doing this"!!!

Package it with accomodation and tickets for the Richmond game, and we could have made a fortune. How many seats are on one of those trains? You could sell merchandise, promote memberships... the possibilities are nearly endless.

Say what you like about Collingwood, and I often do, but they and Essendon tend to lead the competition in endeavours like this.
                              We hate Anthony Rocca
                              We hate Shannon Grant too
                              We hate scumbag Gaspar
                              But Leo WE LOVE YOU!
