Its his disposal that worries me, he seems to get alot of it but seems to just as easily turn it over as kick it to another team mate saying that he would be my pick for a target Iam sure I saw somewhere he lead the saints at stoppages a real plus for us.

He is awesome at getting the ball and running with it. However, he too often seems to just throw the ball on his boot without really looking. I suspect this is something that will come with time - just a little more poise - as he has everything else.

Not when he plays on Kirk.

Can't say that I have ever thought of MCVeigh being soft, more like on the dirty side. Watch how he drops the knees in packs, just like the Johnsons.

I reckon he has not played in the midfield because Essendon over rate their midfield. He has been developed as a backline run with player/stopper but isn't that good at it. Yet with those developed defensive skills, handy disposal, and allowed the freedom of running around the ground he may very well make a very good midfielder. Seems to have good stamina.

Don't forget that much of the criticism of our midfield is about their defensive skills, along with the overall perspective that they are not up to scratch as a combination.

I would think Essendon will trade given that they now concede that their much lauded (early season) group of young players are not as good as they and the press led us to believe.

I would love to have MV for us! If you go to the Essendon forum in BigFooty, you will find that they are impressed with his form this year. I would be happy with a 2nd Round pick swap.

Would love to see McVeigh at the Swans. One, because he loves the club (I know people hate this reasoning, but I think it can only be positive for a footballer), and two, he's a pretty decent player. If he can either be developed into a midfield role, or even free up Crouch to a purely attacking midfielder, I think it would be worth having him. I desperately want to see Crouch with a less defensive role - he reminds me so much of Maxfield, and we all know how great Stuey has been.

Hayes, Kirk and Bolton in the middle.

Since well, Bigfooty becomes the definite guide to footy? Incidently if people think a 2nd Round pick swap is fair for McVeigh, what would be a fair trade for say Crouch, who is clearly twice the player McVeigh is. Perhaps, a top ten pick ?

McVeigh is just your average footballer - every team in the competition has a few of him.

c.f. Mathews, Fosdike, Crouch, J Bolton

If we end up with him, so be it. But if we are 'targeting' him, our priorities are seriously arse-about.

Agree with all of this. If we were talking about McPhee though...

i think mcveigh would be ok if we got him cheaply but hes not what we need to chase after

I cannot help agree with you. From what i have seen of him he is dependable but that is about it. He does have a little bit of "niggle" but that is not necessarily a good thing as it can equate to stupid frees inside 50, it's even worse if you don't actually intimidate the person your targeting, but just give away a free.

I never said that BF is the definite guide, did I?

I was stating that Bomber fans on BF are impressed with him which is AN indication/guide that MV is playing well.
