Fair Dinkum - what's the point of supporting a side if your going to be like that? Everyone has bad days, they don't need to cop a pasting from "supporters" when they do. That just gives me the @@@@s.

They can be huge pains I tell you. There are so many Grannies in the Melbourne-based Cheer Squad. The worst it was was during the 1996 Grand Final. I had this old duck telling me to sit down all match. AT GRAND FINAL!!!!

Still, having them around is heaps better than having yuppies who are disinterested in the footy.

And is far better than chanting at empty seats.

The kids have to do their appenticeship somewhere. My 2 sons are adults now and being in amongst the standing room (real people) at the MCG and suburban grounds has
          stood them in great stead.

They have learned plenty of one liners, and enjoy the hustle and bustle and continuous banter. They are fine upstanding supporters who enjoy carrying on the Melbourne tradition and style, where real footy supporters were invented.

They would have learned the world's profanities anyway, so why not at the footy. They also learned how to drink responsibly under the guidance of their father and uncle.

I love those boys. They sat in front of us at the Melbourne game at Telstra and got all the quiet people chanting. They are really good, and they enjoy their footy, without being offensive.

One of them flashed her ass at us. The other one was wearing a Reowoldt badge, once we saw that, we gave him heaps. "Still time to ignite Reiwoldt!!". Still bings a smile to my face. Top top day indeed.

Personally I think the writer has gotten it wrong. The Swans member was not shooshing him because she wanted him to shut up, she was wanting to concentrate on the footbal. And he was probably disturbing her.

There is nothing as frustrating as watching sport around people who aren't into it. The Kings basketball Grand Finals were frustrating for that reason. But the Olyroos matchat the MCG took the cake; I tried to get an "aussie" chant going and was laughed at by everyone.

Good point JF . I wonder why some people go to the footy at all

Last year the game against Carlon at Telstra I was unfortunate to be sitting behind a group of trendy 20 somethings all wearinbg Swannies gear.
Constantly on their trendy , latest model super expensive mobile phones. Calls in , calls out.

Far too busy to watch their team smash the blues

i was amazed that people on the southern end of the stadium wanted to start a mexiacan wave. Thank god it only got to about 5 rows and stopped.

I was pissed at this and hoped no one else would join in. I really don't understand the mexican wave. Its one of the most pathetic things at a sporting event.

The thing is they tried starting during a phase in play where there was plnety of action.

Leave it for the cricket people, where there is enough breaks and boredom to have a mexican wave.

Seeing as the link doesn't work, could you clarify if the writer of the article was

                            a) told to shut up because people in front of him wanted to discuss their careers

                            b) told to shut up because people in front of him couldn't focaus on the game for all the (non play related) yelling/name calling

                            or

                            c) was complaining that he couldn't talk to his friends because of the bloody dootball supporters getting into the game.

                            Cheers
