I am very sure, as this is why Melbourne clubs don't want to play interstate clubs in Victoria. Not only are the crowds lower, they don't see almost any of the money that the interstate clubs get for selling the memberships. As Charlie has said the Swans would not have an office in Melbourne if this was not the case.

As for the Collingwood example, I was not talking about rights to attend etc. Was based purely on the case that a large supported club like Collingwood is a cash cow for us and other struggling Melbourne clubs when we play them as the home team, due to the amount of supporters willing to pay to attend.

This is not the case for struggling clubs in Melboune when they play us in Melbourne as they don't get the walk-up and pay cahs as this is already paid via the membership to the Swans.

Probably why you see Carlton and Geelong charging so much for a seat at the game and providing low numbers of the GA seats. This is the only way they can make money off us!

Can't Melbourne club supporters buy 18 game memberships and the like? surely that would disadvantage smaller membership bases if the home club didn't get a large proportion of the funds generated for the non-home game component of the membership. It wouldn't make sense for the Western Bulldogs to cry out for home match against Collingwood if say 15000 Collingwood members were getting in free of charge (from a bulldogs perspective).

If Melbourne games were such potential money spinners for the club, they would be on their knees begging for the Kangaroos game to go back to Melbourne from Canberra, because if the Swans are getting members into games free in Melbourne and pocketing the cash, they might as well play all games down there...pretty easy way to make money!

You are correct, some Melbourne clubs do offer 17 or 18 game memberships, but in that case all the non home games cash goes to the home teams.

For Victorian based interstate memberships the carve up of cash is I believe a lot different.
