Ablett did play well against Carlton but he did run out of steam towards the end. My main concern is the every increasing 'Tagging Team' that Sydney are starting to develop. Now we can add Ablett to that team to join the Captain, Crouchy and a couple of revolving mates. Nobody wants to see a game of total shutdowns.

so you didn't enjoy that game then? would it have been better not to match up tight on the "fab five" after they got about 600 posessions last week?
roos has said that we don't have the cattle to match up on a team like brisbane. when all 22 do their bit we can beat anyone. that means abblett, fosdike etc. need to be on their game, every game. no one truly thinks these guys have no skill etc. you don't play AFL footy if you don't, it's just the consistency that we need.
brisbane have the sort of lineup where they can be missing two or three KPP, and someone else will step up, if we had just focused on Aker and black for instance lappin and power probably would have destroyed us. when you have "negating" players that get as many or more effective posessions than their man, are they still negating?
i think the improvement from last year has been an ability to play different styles of football.
my 2 cents.

But in lieu of the Freo game people were bemoaning his "poor skills" on the strength of 2-3 poor kicks that day.Originally posted by Dpw
Nope because he didnt actualy get near the bloody ball, hes one of those annoying players who plays well when the team is going alright. And I believe that relates to the fact hes a confidence player who still dosent believe in himself.
This is what irks me.

PS:- As regards being a contributor when we are going well, I agree. I first saw him in Canberra when we beat the Pies by 100 points and though "this guy has talent". But he is a ball-receiver, not a diving-in kind of player. And has been seen to not want to get into the hard stuff from time to time."Never ever ever state that Sydney is gone. They are like cockroaches in the aftermath of a nuclear war"

Am very surprised that he has been as good as he was on Saturday night. To me from my spot behind the goals Nicksey would have been near BOG.Originally posted by NMWBloods
Very pleased with Nicks - very hard at the ball, plays good defence, aware of the ball and runs it out sensibly, a quality quick, and can also be shifted into the forward line.
I sincerely thought his days on a HBF were over. But he does seem to have regained his pace again and along with Tadgh and Leo helps get the ball out of defence by either hand or foot.
I'll happily admit I was very very wrong in relation to Nicks. The WA Supporters Club even reminded me of his good season when I was over there for the Dockers game.
He is an All-Australian, so I shouldn't have doubted him. A great "addition" to our backline, that's for sure.
