I'm actually terrified for our future rucking role after last nights effort. I still believe Doyle can make it, but he's still a way off and with Ball's imminent departure It's a pretty scary scenario.

Have been defending Doyle a bit lately to a couple of friends, but after last night. I'm at a loss.

He just appears to be all over the place. What were once strong marking abilities seem to have disapeared, and tapping to where our players are actually standing would be useful once in a while.

Overuse of the ball is also killing us. For the love of god sometimes you just need to kick the thing.

I need to watch the replay again to find any positives from the game, as with the events that transpired, much of it is now a blur.
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release
    We need
    Love and peace

I actuallly managed to watch the last quarter again last night, and while I had been happy with Doyle's efforts up to that point, his last quarter was pretty disasterous. I think, however, he was probably affected by what was happening off-field, as were the others, it seems.

It all seems very different and a whole lot sadder in the light of day, that's for sure.

Some people have linked being able to win close games with being good in the finals. I think it is probably being able to ruthlessly beat out and finish off your opponent is what is important in the finals. I don't think we have done that once this year.

Buchanen - Had a blinder, seemed like he had 80% of the scoring assists.

Doyle - Made some bad errors, but had a good game, trying hard.

Davis - at least he's back in the team.

Goodes - Didn't play well, but is looking alot less hampered by his leg than a couple of weeks ago.
Doyle needs to have a good hard look at himself. His marking efforts were abysmal. And that hand pass that missed its mark after a string of handpasses in the 2nd Q was second rate.

Thats all I have to say, the swelling in my toe has nearly gone down where I kick my shoes across the room in disgust!!!

            A small point, just to clear up some confusion;

We kicked better in the first 3 quarters because we went up the middle and made sure we got our kicks inside of 30 meters from goal.

Our back six chased the Roos forwards far and wide to the pockets, hence their inability to convert consistently.

Come the last quarter, our midfield started allowing the Roos onballers space to go up the centre too. Then our short defenders were shown for their lack of height when the ball was kicked long.

I feel bad for Jason ball, very bad. He was very close to Wally, more than most. Then his errant handball is the final straw. That is 2 games now for Bally. He will be inconsolable.

I don't think you can blame Ball for that!! he had no other options, if he had held onto it it would've been holding the ball. Anyone if he hadn't read the play well it might've gone thru for a score anyway, the defenderes had lost the plot by that stage.
