    Melbourne Vs, the Swannies

Hello there read and white, Melbourne supporter here. Not come to pick a fight or cause trouble, just her to pass some time and talk about the footy.

Firstly, It was a hell of a Saturday night you lot have just endured. The football comes a long second to the death of the head trainer. My condolences to Wally's family and to the players and club as a whole.

It will be hard for your players to come up after an event like that, it so very deeply into a club.

That aside, I am glad that this is a game that both teams have a lot to play for. Us defending a top 4 position and you fighting for a top 8 finish. Should make for an intense game with no quarter given.

We have surprised just about everyone this season (I thought that at best we could finish 6th) with a good consistent hard brand of footy. Early in the season when we played and beat you at Homebush it was just starting to come together. Now, at the other end of the season we are trying to hold it together.

We have some significant injuries to the forwards and midfield that have impacted heavily on us. Vardy and Davey are out of our forward line and we may miss Holland as well after he visits the tribunal this evening. I have given up trying to predict what they may or may not do. Thompson and Johnstone are out of the midfield rotation as well. Our defence is holding together well, except for last week, although Bizzell is yet to regain form after a lengthy layoff with a face injury.

Green and Bruce are giving us good drive through the centre and we have excellent run out of defence through Brown, Whelan, Wheatley and Rivers.

Matchups in both defence and attack will be interesting but, as usual, it will be won and lost out of the middle.

I will be interested to see how your team lines up.

Yes, it will be a good game. The Dees are good opposition this year, especially with Neitz in good form and it will be interesting watching the Neitz-Hall battle to see who kicks more goals.

The Swans are taking Wally's death hard. This is the great unknown - will the Swans be limp like week-old celery, or will they have a steely resolve to win it for Wally? If the Swans can stay focused on the game and put in a good effort to "win it for Wally" an upset may be on the cards.

      Welcome aboard CHF !
I'm very worried about this game. No doubt the effects of last weekend will take it's toll on players ... Even if they pull together with a 'let's do it for Wally' that's an added pressure.
I was quite confident we would beat you up here when we met in April, which makes me even more worried given the circumstances.

As you say, we're fighting for a top 8 position and you're hoping to hold on to your top 4. Considering this, would be nice of you to let us have this one

Thanks Pillow talk. I was posting in here prior to the game earlier this season but have not posted at al since then.

Somehow I do not think our players will be giving you a thing if they can help it.

I dont personally know how close the players were to Wally, but assume its fairly close.

The greiving process follows a well worn path or Denail, Anger, Depression, Acceptance (not sure if thats the order).

Not even sure what the time frame is for this cycle, but if you meet us in the "Anger" phase, we will win, In the depression phase, we will lose.

As shown by their ability to play well at AAMI vs Port and at the GABBA....

              St Kilda are pretenders though
              - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

I think you would be badly misjudging the Demons if you were to make a judgement on our play against Port last weekend. We have a hell of a lot more to us than that as reflected in our table position.

I am just glad we had that day in Round 19 and not during the finals.

Should be an absolute beauty on Saturday night. Both teams are coming off a loss (for us it's been harder for obvious reasons) and it's a crucial game. The Dees have surprised me this year but in saying that, it is an even number year so they always do well . In all seriousness, the full-foward battle between Baz and Neita should be worth the price of admission alone. In a tight one, I'll say the Swans by a goal.

No one's mentioned this but bonus for Swans that is at the Phone Box and not at the G.

CHF, when did Melbourne last have a home game there - ever?

But this is our first match at the Dome this year, whereas Melbourne have played there a few times already this season. So any sort of field advantage will be for the Dees. Fan support, however, will be different. I think it'll be 50-50 on that count on Saturday.

Enjoy sunny(??) Melbourne!! Hopefully should be a good game. The Dees will be hoping to bounce back after their abysmal performance last week. And, We ...... well who knows what we will produce this week?!?!?! X (Fingers Crossed)

Round 16 Against the Bulldogs was the one and only home game we have had at the Dome this season. Seemed to play the ground pretty well.

If we were to line up with a forward setup as below, how do you think the matchups will go?

                              Half forward: Robertson, Miller, Green

                              Full forward: Holland, Neitz, Yze

We have injuries to both Davey and Vardy so Green may rotate into the forwards and Yze may start up forward.
