What an absolute @@@@ing joke - I seriously cannot believe someone can be reported for throwing another player to the ground who doesn't even get hurt. If it was so bad why did the umpires not pay a free? Plenty of worse things happen in the game. This should not even have gone before the tribunal - should be thrown out immediately!
If Read is not cited then the whole system really is stuffed!!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Completely laughable situation. Yet another completely pointless trip down to Melbourne for Baz.Comment

Should be interesting this weekend then. Lloyd the untouchable and Hally the, um.... touchable???!!!
Watched the replay and I genuinely think there is nothing in it. The softest report I can think of.
Anyone see the Melb players jumper punching Stuie in the head when he came to Hally's (who had two guys on him) aide??!! Also, Jude got an elbow in the head.Comment

You can not get suspended for swinging a guy by his jumper.
Like I said in another thread, the only reason why this was called up was tremendous pressure by the media.
I've been pretty spot on with the tribunal the whole year and I would be incredibly surprised if Barry gets suspended.
He did swing Nicholson after the tackle but the fact is that Nicholson was the one who retaliated and the influx of other players did not help matters.
Barry is only guilty of swinging Nicholson to the ground, but after that there's nothing to it. Barry was charged with 'unduly rough play' but what he did looked considerably less than most of the wrestling charges which go up.
For instance I would be surprised if Read did not get rubbed out for striking Stuey.
Paul Gough is an idiot (http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=new...ticleid=166126)
He says that Barry would be a chance of missing the finals if found guilty given his bad record. Get three weeks for pushing and shoving? You must be joking.
The Swans evidence will be that Nicholson was deliberately provoking and prodding Barry the whole night and the incident itself was fuelled by Nicholson going on with it after being slung to the ground. Nicholson's evidence will confirm this and to Barry's benefit will talk down what actually happened on the night saying it was no more than pushing and shoving.
After all, its not Barry's fault that other players rush in and make it worse than it is.
On viewing of the evidence the tribunal will dismiss the charge.Comment

The problem is the MELBOURNE MEDIA has obviously had an influence in this matter after continuously referring to the matter and showing pictures of it in Sunday's and Monday's papers...under heading of "Hall brawl fear...an ugly boundary line incident sparked by ...Barry Hall".
They seem to love pointing out all his actions whenever even remotely construed as rough tactics.Comment

I was sitting next to the Melbourne bench and saw Hall tackle Nicholson and sling him to the ground which is perfectly legal!! Then Nicholson was the one that had a go at Hall and everyone else joined in. It is absolutely ridiculous that he has been reported. Hopefully the tribunal sees sense!Comment

Hmmm conspiracy theories anyone, in the lead up to probably the Swans biggest match in terms of qualifying for the finals and this happens. So now Barry and the club have a interupted training schedule (assuming they fly down to defend him ), lets face it if there was anything in it the Dees player would still be stuck into the TD turfPremiers 09,18,33,05
