Swans to get home final.

JF, most casual swans "fans" I know say they would go to more swans matches if they were on Friday nights.

Great way to unwind for a weekend IMO (Plus most people I know wouldn't bother changing for the event lol) Our crowds inflate because of "theatre goers", not families or travellers.

It can also lead to groups of workmates organising to go...which is a big tradition for Origins now that anyone can get tickets.

I agree it would be an issue for travellers - but generally you find a lot of people who want to be here, will find a way.

State of Origin has not suffered because it is on a Wednesday night - Telstra is very easy to get to from both directions.

...let's see. Finish work at 5. Go home get the kids. 3 hours to Sydney that time of day. Half an hour to park. Miss the firts half, or most of it. Game over and back to the car. Home between midnight and 1am. Up at 6 to get the kids an hour and a half down to the coast for a 9am away game. Great start to the week end. If I lived in Paddo, or Randwick or anywhwere in Sydney for that matter and worked in town and could just turn up with some mates and have a few beers at the Noble bar then I probably too would think that Fri nighters were a good idea and that anyone who wanted to be there would find a way. I'm guessing you don't have kids Damien (and forgive me if I'm wrong). One of the great things about the footy at the SCG is how many kids are there. I really think a lot of that could go if there were too many Fri night games. Guess it doesn't matter anyway, because much like the trades and the tactics, these are decisions we don't get to make.

this final business in sydney is giving me the irrits, debating whether to take the gamble and book a flight now, and I have a delimma with what to do with the kids, it's all getting too hard.

This time of year does my head in, I tell you.

Still it is a stress I will gladly live with each year. Far better than the lack of stress Collingwood are having.

Even better is the number of kids having a kick on the hallowed turf of the SCG after a game. Somewhere in that forest of kids, parents and footballs after a game could be the next Paul Kelly.

But this stress can mean the difference of a few hundred dollars, I will probably take the gamble and book flights tomorrow. I want to come up at Xmas time anyway so if I don't use it I can use it then and it will cost a bit more.

I fear leaving it till Sunday will mean my $79 fare I can get will go up to over $100 or more

Same here,i absolutely hate it.Sunday night/monday morning is hectic,trying to get flights,accommodation,and tickets to the game.

Of course a Friday night match would affect some people, has to.

I was talking about drawing big event crowds, which IMO Friday nights are made for.

You are right - it isn't our decision, so all this talk doesn't matter..I will point out though that the Swans have requested a return to Friday night football next year...they wont be likely to get it though, only thanks to TV arrangements.
