That's pretty much how I feel about it too. Just before we kicked those two goals and threatened to come back in the 3rd quarter I was feeling gutted - that awful feeling you get when you realise that your team is about to have its season ended in an elimination final. By the end of the game, I was surprised at how well I was taking it and even told some St Kilda fans that I hope they thrash Port and go on to win the flag (I'm rarely so gracious towards opposition supporters).

Another thing St Kilda did well was to capitalise on and really punish Sydney for its mistakes. A number of St Kildas goals came from costly turnovers (istakes y Goodes and Kir come quickly to mind).

Yep - they killed us on our mistakes. Quite a few of their goals came directly from turnovers.

Often when Goodes had raced forward, only to have to ball turned over and him 50m from his opponent (Baker? I cant remember). Without those turnovers Goodes is a genius, reading the play, a kick ahead, etc etc. Suffice to say it is not always a good idea to be a kick ahead in the wet...

Kirk,Bolton and Buchanan all were good.

Dissapointed in Hall still tries to take overhead marks in the p***ing down rain and is to rapt up in not getting free kicks from the umpires.He has to learn to live with it cause I can't see anything changing soon.
Goodes also dissapointed in, not because blake ran off him as he tended to get the ball when we had shocking turnovers which tells me Goodes was in an attacking position.But for a big body a few times he did not put his head over the ball and wear one for the team.
Also thought Kennelly made a few unforced areas one out on the full and the handball that fell short (of Crouch I think it was) when the whole team was streaming forward......the turnover resulted in a saints goal.

Simply we were outclassed in alot of areas and injuries did hurt.......surely all the Matthews knockers would realise how important he is to our team once he was off Dal Santo was a big influence on the game

commentators on radio alluded to this at half time and mentioned that del santo could break the game open. this is exactly what he did

we had a good year

our youthful midfield was exposed last night.......

to make the top 6 was good we paid the price for an inconsistent year

im pleased we had 2 years in a row with finals wins in each its a platform for a premiership in the next year or so
