I am sure to get shot down by you lot on this one but here goes.

If Essendon are so keen on Bolton then perhaps a swap for Damian Cupido would be an option.

      Why you might say.
Well having known him since he was 11, and seeing him close right through his junior days (ran the boundary), there wasno one that came near him in the Eastern Football League as a midfielder. The only spot he played. Explosive out the centre, quick and a deep penetrating kick. I never saw anyone remotely get near him in the midfield.

At 14 he kicked 6 goes in his first game at Under 18 level from the midfield.

At 16 he was playing with the Eastern Ranges but they tried to make him a rebound half back because of his beautiful kick with some success. Wrong!!! Then they tried to make him a HFF because he could kick goals. Kicked a few bags but it is not his spot.

He was drafted by Brisbane specifically as a midfielder, their only pick that year. Mathews said at he draft he was the best midfielder in the draft by a mile. What happened is he had 3 shoulder recos got disillusioned and was up against the Fab 4 for a spot in the middle.

Went to Essendon but they too have tried to make him a forward which he is not. From what I have seen is he has had but a half in the middle and did well then. Some see him as soft, but he is not a forward and seems to get lost there, although has played a few blinders.

He needs space, finds space, can run all day and give him a possession at a centre bounce and it will hit the the goalsquare or go through. Given the opportunity in the midfield and there will be no more an explosive player going around.

What are we looking for? A quick highly skilled midfielder who plays instinctively.

      Might be worth a thought.

Nice thought. Problem is I think Essendon are pretty keen to keep Cupido (who still has a number of injury problems too).

IF..... (that's a big if) we were to trade jude to essendon, i would rather get cupido than mc veigh......however, i don't think jude will go. he has bought a house etc, and must be considered by the coaching staff to be a future cog in a sucessful midfield, but not THE key midfielder.

i don't think mc veigh is bad, but he's not good enough to trade jude for. judes' hardness at the contest is something that is invaluable, and i shudder at the thought of that hardness being delivered from a J bolt in some other colour guernsey....

Hi crouchcy . Nice to see you drop by.

My reasons are pretty well-known around here. Dig up my old posts. Basically, I view him as the one of those we could replace without much hassle but yet could net us something worthwhile in return.

He is also one of those who is hitting his peak. I doubt if he could maintain his standard in the next few more years. A problem with taggers is that once they no long could tag, there is no other role for them. Time to cash in me think. It might be a bit ruthless but it is the way to go.

Every1 is entitled to their own oppinion and that is yours but i still believe the swans see it differently.

We will have 2 agree to disagree on this 1 cos Crouch is a love to hate player unfortunatly and i love him u hate him.

No hard feelings or fire meant!!

If Essendon want to trade for Jude Bolton, then I would ask for Kepler Bradley and Mark McVeigh, for Jude and our second round pick. That would fill at least one major need (either ruckman or CHB)
                Once was, now elsewhere

It seems to me this point is where your whole post falls down. If this Cupido is as good as you think he is as a midfielder, why would Essendon try and make him a forward, when Essendon, like us, their weakness is their midfield? Obviously Essendon don't rate him too highly as a midfielder, as this is their weakness, and they have never played him there!

I don't think Cupido would make a good midfielder at all, too big and too slow, and apparently not hard enough at it either.

                    Not for mine.

                      Possible Trade Options

                      Fosdike
                      Saddington
H.James (I don't want to see him go yet but tradeable)
Powell (Not sure who we would get for him though)
Fixter (Shame but injuries are hampering him though)

                      Who can we get?
Desperate for a solid midfielder, a genuine star but not sure how we get him. I am not convinced that Crawford is the answer either. He is 30 already.

                      Tall defender- Who's available??

Could be one of the most interesting trade periods for the club!

Why does everyone want a midfielder?

Goodes,Davis,Kennelly are all best 22 players who could play midfield well.

Buchanen,McVeigh(x2),Ablett,Schneider are trying to get into this position.

And what about our top draft picks from this year - Willoughby,Schmidt who are also midfielders.

And Bolton,Kirk and Fosdike who are already there.

Because our midfield is the weakest part of our game.
(eg: Lowest I50s of all clubs for the season.)

So what?We have heaps of improvement that can be made in the midfield without trading for someone.

How do we know that we will develop a lot of improvement? How do we know when that improvement will come?
