I thought he was originally from Melbourne?

I don't see the big deal in a tap ruckmen - I want someone who can do things around the ground, hence why I like Simmonds.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

      Just doing the math...

The only players on the list I could imagine being delisted are:
      Ablett
      Powell
      Sundqvist
      Meiklejohn

I think the latter three would be falling nervous, rightly or wrongly, whilst Ablett should be safe for another year. So there's our three requisite draft picks, plus maybe a spare spot.

Warfe has, as we know, retired, but the certain promotion of Paul Bevan nullifies that.

If any combination of Simmonds, Bruce and McVeigh come to the club, some players have to be traded.

Now, on another thread I've named Mathews, O'Keefe, Fixter, Fosdike and Saddington as possible trades. Of the five, the two I'd most like to keep are O'Keefe and Saddington. I'm not interested in trading either of these two for McVeigh. Maybe Saddington for Simmonds, and maybe either for Bruce. Not sure yet.

Now, would Mathews be a fair trade for any of the three? Perhaps McVeigh... he gots a lot more of the ball, but is probably less versatile. The net gain out of such a deal would be small, but McVeigh is probably more the sort of midfielder we need... or would that be robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Fixter, given his injuries, could only balance the equation for any of these deals.

Now, how about this one for Fossie... Stenglein wants to go to Perth, Fossie is from Adelaide, and we apparently want Simmonds. Adelaide sends Stenglein to Freo, we send second round draft pick to Freo and Fosdike to Adelaide, and Freo sends Simmonds to the Swans. How does Stenglein compare to Fosdike? About fair, I reckon.

Any other senior player on the list is not offered for trade, in my book. Any suggestions from other clubs are considered on their merits, but hands off Hall, Williams, Doyle, Kennelly, O'Loughlin, Barry, Bolton, Ball, Kirk and Goodes.
      We hate Anthony Rocca
      We hate Shannon Grant too
      We hate scumbag Gaspar
      But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

What did Powell do to earn people's wrath?
He often seems to find his way onto people's delistables.
At the start of this year he was one of our more promising youngsters. He's big, strong, agressive and only 20.
          Seems strange to me.

The AFL Guide lists him as being recruited from Box Hill (via Melbourne).

He'd be a useful acquisition but I can't see why Freo would particularly want to lose him.

It's not that he's earned anyone's wrath - rather that he's shown very little at reserves level this year. He clearly has talent and is at the stage where he should be able to dominate at Canberra league level. But he rarely does. He'll play a great 15 minutes and then go missing for the rest of the game.

If you ever watch a game with both he and LRT in it, the difference in application and impact, at that level, is huge.

Simmonds would be very useful. Played a lot more in the ruck for Melbourne before he moved to Freo (particularly when White was struggling with fitness) but for Freo has proved a very raliable forward option - good mark, mobile for his size, accurate kick, and can play in the ruck.

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Absolutely no chance Ablett will be delisted.
Can't recall the last time a young player played in a finals campaign and was then delisted a few weeks later.

My delist list lol would be -

                    Sundqvist
                    MJohn
                    Fixter
                    Rogers

And my ready to trade, not saying they should be traded but we wont get quality without offering something in return and outside of the 22 its hard to pick players anyone would be interested in. -

                    James
                    Fosdike
                    Mathews

And would like to pick up only 2 players - if we could get these 2 they would add so much to our team. Dont see any value in another Mcviegh would add nothing we dont already have in smallish midfielders. So my 2 are

                    Bruce
                    Simmonds

                    Cheers

Guerra is only 22.....so he counts as youth, but the rest definitely don't.

Its ok to talk about the merits of a youth policy but if you dont finish in the last 4 for a couple of years your not really getting much value and looking for a couple of smokeys.

StKilda has had to take the pain before they could bring this team together I wouldnt want to go through 2 - 3 years and the Sydney market would just walk away in droves. This is the added pressure Roos has to deal with.

                          Cheers

I spose if the Swans were looking for the the ugliest head in Football, then Simmonds would be a great choice.

But to be honest, we don't need that cratered bonce sickening up our team.

I don't think the need for a ready made ruckman is urgent ~ Ball, Doyle and Goodes will hold things together fine for another year at least.

That is if the Swans finally realise that Goodes IS NOT a key position player but a follower ~ and play him as around the ground ruckman!)

On the other hand we have a gaping holes elsewhere!
