Well I guess that weed riddled garden needs some work, Oh, but then there is also the hay fever. Gee I hate spring.
Horse racing bores the living **** out of me! I have a couple of friends at church who hate sport, and because of me, Footy in particular.

Horse racing is to me what footy is to them.

I'll be going to ground for the duration of this non event of a period.

Except for the cricket of course.

In a way I'm happy to be in Sydney. When one thing finishes (aka the footy), another starts. I have already put my Swans scarves away and am no longer wearing my red members cap. For the first time in 6 months I have started wearing my yellow Sydney Kings cap again. Yes, the basketball season beckons, and I'm really looking forward to Saturday evenings cheering the Kings, then drinkees afterwards at the Convent Garden in Chinatown with our host(and storer of flags) Grasshopper!

I thought about taking up an interest in the Kings after becoming attracted to basketball during the 2000 Olympics (go u Opals!). But then I decided that I needed the smmer to take a break from emotionally committing myself to another team sport. I dont mind cricket but I rarely get excited about it, especially now that Australia is expected to always win. I love the beach and all those summer activities so I didnt pursue the Kings. Well, that was silly wasnt it?!! They have now won the last two flags. Bugger!!! My chance for premiership ecstasy and I passed it up for a boogie board and a fishing rod.

All my family are rugger rugger rugger.

So I chose to follow league, soccer and AFL.

They never understood how I could NOT follow union. But when you get taken to matches with dad in his tweed coat and Cranbrook old boys tie, it all gets too much after a while.

Following AFL to me has been as much an exercise in self-assertion as anything for me.

PS:- My mother is now furiously bemoaning the amount of non private school 'common leaguie slobs' playing rugger these days. "They don't even speak nicely any more" she'd say.

So if you had been brought up in Melbourne you would probably be an avid rugby fan?

Believe me, with the crowds the Kings get, there is still plenty of room to hop on the bandwagon.

Try taking in a Kings-Pig derby. Just an unreal adrenalin rush. The Simon Dwight Stand and us see each other, and the barbs flow!

Ah, spring. A good time to get stuck into housework and home maintenance chores that get neglected during the winter months.

At least that was the original plan - I've managed to get a virus that's laid me low for a few days so the housework may have to wait.

As I really only started following the Swans full-on for the first time this year I hadn't experienced the empty feeling that the end of the Season brings. It is such a weird feeling and like nothing I have experienced before. I don't like it much!!! Thankfully I have taped a number of games this year so have resorted to watching them over and over. I can't wait to get my Membership Application in November and then counting down the months till the beginning of the 2005 Season. As a netball and now Swans supporter Winter is definitely my favourite time of the year!

I don't mind Summer too much though as I love my cricket and tennis. Have just purchased my ticket's to each day of the Adidas International!! My annual tennis holiday Am also very much looking forward to Tuesday night and the start of Survivor but somehow it doesn't quite measure up Winter and following the Swans.....

Believe me, it will really surprise you. A thrilling game of basketball (eg-Game 5 between the Kings and Pigs) can be one of the best sporting spectacles you could see.

And Kings-Pigs games are as full of rivalry and hatred as any NRL NSL derby. Gets the adrenalin pumping BIG TIME!
