He will be a sad loss, has been a very sound player in his years with the swans.
If Ottens can remain on the park for all 22+ games, he will be a big inclusion. Ruckman come forward, also takes the ruck duties away from Baz in the F50. He can concentrate on roving the ball, throwing/pushing his opponents to the ground and kicking "easy goals"!!!
I would be sad to see Saddo leave but Ottens would be a great pick up. As a resting ruckman in the forward pocket he could cause a lot of damage to any opposition.
Luke Ball would also be a good pick up if the Saints do not come to an aggreement with him.
This is very promising news. I will be thrilled to bits if Sydney secure his services. Ottens will take us one step closer to a premiership. Yahoo!
Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.
No supprise to me though, I thought mid way through the year that Ottens would be coming to Sydney. I know that Andrew Ireland has always been very keen to get him to come here.
Don't be supprised to see Craig Boltons name thrown up as trade bait. To me this would be a disgrace, but from what I hear it's extremely possible.
Two poor years in a row a very serious back injury, no Brownlow votes at all in 2004 and we are prepared to give up Saddington and an early draft pick??!!
I hope they have thought this one through. Far rather see Cameron Bruce given that we will have Doyle and Ball next year anyway.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!
I hate to play the devil's advocate but doesn't this development smell just a little bit like the Akers 'negotiations' in 2002 and the Ray Hall 'discussions' last year. In both cases, it seems to me, these were clever rues by player managers to extract a better deal out of the local club while playing the Swans off as willing bunnies. I can't see any evidence yet that this story is any different.

I am more in favour of Bruce too, but I am a big fan of Ottens, he has a lot of talent but has been in a horrible enviroment for the past few years. That can't be good for anyone.
He is a country boy, and in terms of Football, the city of Sydney will be fantastic for him and his development.

The difference being that the Tigers really can't afford his contract, Ottens simply will not get anymore out of the them. Player managers realise how serious it is at Tigerland.
They have to cut 2 Million dollars in overall spending in 2005 - unless they backend another contract (which is dangerous if their priority picks turn into superstars and they know that), they can't match us dollar for dollar.
Getting Ottens and Bruce are not mutually exclusive.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
