I'd be curious to know who he could have been tagging. Most of their guys had pretty good games, except Headland who was tagged by Kirk. Bolton needs to seriously pick up his game if he wants to be a midfielder. Only 11 possessions is way too few. Exactly the same as last year; he showed he could do okay against sub-par opposition (Carlton) but is not up to it when the pressure is on.

Gee guys. It's taken me til Sunday night to log on because I was disappointed with the game, but I think perspective is in order. The team didn't play well - granted. With Willo and Maxfield kept quiet we didn't have the run in the midfield. Kicking on goal was ordinary and all around the ground the skills were several notches lower than the previous week. I actually thought they started the game trying to play the same style as against Carlton but just looked tentative. And when things weren't going so well, I guess the run dropped off a bit.

But far better teams than Sydney will be beaten at Subiaco this year. Freo are an OK team, they have some good runners and their key defenders played very well. We "only" lost by 26 points. Not the end of the world, surely. Just one more step in the journey.

They sacrificed Bolton to tag. That is the price you must pay when Cressa is out.

Ah, if so I hope they don't do that again. After all, Bell "only" amassed a lazy 29 possessions!!

Hope that's not the only performance you see live!!! that'd suck.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

All good points, and I don't think we should take too much away from it, in the same way we shouldn't take too much away from the Carlton game. It's a long journey and we will get lost along the way. Still, I was rather disappointed with the fairly disinterested appearance of much of the team. Hopefully that's not something we see return, as it has not been evident thus far under Roos.

Bloody hell...They were absolutely woeful.Look forward to it all year and then they come up with that ****.
                    But on the bright side...
Davis looked like he could come up with a few match winning performances.
Stuey Maxfield tried hard in the last quarter when all seemed lost....Inspirational tackle and smother.
                    Barry Hall was ok...
Goodes was awesome and I am going down tomorrow to outlay some money for the Brownlow.

And finally....My performance..... Woeful..... Not enough voice and got down too easily in 2nd and 3rd quarter
I may just have to come across mid year and experience the SCG!!!!!!!!

I guess I didn't get that perception which is maybe why I'm less angered by the performance than many others. That "can't be bothered" appearance that was evident so often in Eade's later years was the one thing that got me hopping. I never mind that much when we lose to a better team on the day but the lack of effort I agree is inexcusable.

Just that I thought they continued to try hard on Saturday but just weren't good enough. At some point I may force myself to watch a replay of the game and might change my view on that.

Part of the reason I had that perception was perhaps because they were so woeful. But also their tackles were weak and appeared half-hearted, while Freo players ran around loose and our players seemed to be wandering aimlessly by themselves when we did not have the ball. Maybe that's not a lack of interest (although some players did look that way) but it just felt like it.

My annual dose of pain has been inflicted and wow, it was as much fun as getting a filling. Thank God I don't see the boys play more often because it'd kill me!

I managed to prevent one goal with a well timed boo. I managed to piss off a lot of Freo supporters with every other boo though. Apparently their eardrums are super sensitive when they aren't yelling themselves.

The first and last quarters were decent but we apparently fielded a team of unfit first game midgets. They were chasing a lot, missing targets and making poor decisions for two quarters. That said, despite our poor form. we had chances and if we'd only scored 4 5 instead of 1 8 we would have had a shot in the last quarter.

And ease up on Williams! From where I sat, Willo was actually the only guy who seemed to be working hard in the 2nd and 3rd. He took a pretty healthy bump from Cookie too! But Ball looked positively asthmatic! I understand skills might fade without practice, but what reason is there that an injured player can't maintain some level of aerobic fitness?

All I can say is we were finished 5 minutes from qauter time, for those who weren't at the game and would not have seen all the swans hunched over gasping for air Kenelly was right in front of me and was calling for water and was dry reaching and that was when it was all over the swans at times seem disinterested even to the point were Dockers ran around the foward 50 unchecked hence 9 goal scorers. It has taken me this long to post because I was that pissed at them, However we should of been hammered but the Dockers let us off thank god I'll have to wait till next year to see them live I don't know how you guys do it.
