    I agree and disagree.

It would be nice to give #14 to another player so they can feel spesh in it and be proud to be number 14. [and add history ofcourse]. But then again I think maybe retire it permanently so it doesn't lose its value!
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

You either don't know the Swans history very well or you're a tad thick

There is history, stories etc behind the numbers and it means alot to the players, NOT just a game of footy.

          This actually makes sense.

Numbers shouldn't be over-rated, and #14 should not be retired ala American basketball. If it wasn't retired after Skilton, it should not be retired after Kelly.

As for Bevan getting it, first I'd like to see how he goes in year 2 of senior football. He could improve, or he could struggle - and in the latter case if he has #14 some people would probably blame the number.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

That proves there is 2 sides to every story... So true...

Agreed. Anyone who thinks the players don't understand the significants of numbers/history, does not know any AFL players

One shouldn't retire numbers without good cause, otherwise in about 200 years all Swans players will be wearing 4-digit numbers!

I believe that the following jumper numbers will be used for the new senior players and the new rookies.

                      8, 16, 33, 34, 38, 39, 43, 45, 46 and 48

You can now all guess who will get what number

I know, and over the few weeks you have been doing it, none of you have even come close.

Take it from me (and my source) these numbers will be used, its just who gets them.

So all you're really saying is that Bevan (or whoever) is going to have to wait at least one more year before getting his hands on the no 14, and that they will not be holding no 8 back anymore (which is what I would expect, given how long they held back nos 6 and 4 in recent years).

                              BFD.

If I'm guessing who gets which I'd put a small wager on Spriggs getting no 8 given the apparent link between Cressa and Spriggs' arrival at Driver Ave. That leaves 16 as the obvious allocation for Jolly.

IMO I think that Bevo is not ready to take no. 14.
