Vogels is the young kid from Warrnambool way that there was an article about posted here a little while ago - He's about 190cm, 21 years old I think, played at CHB and CHF in the Warrnambool league - could even be AFL ready in 2005
Hayes I don't know a lot about - but apparently he played in the reserves side this year - key position player is all I know

Nick Potter has been retained, but Luke Taylor has been delisted

Impressed. They have obviously gone with a strategy and come up with some genuine talent in the areas most needed. Sometimes you get lucky, and with how Grundy was rated we may very well have grabbed a bit of that luck.

Clarke's performance in the Nationals from what I have heard were pretty good. I like the real hardness that he is reputed to have, plus it appears he may be a genuine ball magnet.

This is what the fanatical fan wants, a bit of optimism thrown into the mix for 2005.

I don't know much about our picks, but the number of positive threads here sends a good message, Hopefully we've uncovered a couple of rough diamonds in there.

Seems to fill a few gaps that were there prior to the draft - time is the test and I hope they all do well - I hope that we don't get hurt by Josh thewlis going to Norf - showed a little needed to show a lot!

The problem with Eddie is his defensive side of his game as he can be very loose on his opponent. As long as he is winning the footy and kicking goals this shouldn't matter.I remember Sam Mitchell had a similar game at Under 18 level and he went to the VFL and worked on his defensive game and look at him now.

Bit of a shock we didnt pick bartlett, but am really wrapped in getting clarke and shaw especially. They work superbly in tandem and i will really look forward to watching the ressies to know that these guys are finally swans!

I like the sound of Garruuuuuuba's profile...Blistering pace, Booming Kick..very nice

And Grundy seems like an absolute steal.

                  Very Impressed

I wouldn't be suprised if a number of these kids play this year, if injuries occur. Two KP ready to play and clarke a chance
                      Staying ahead of the game...

Talking today to John Fisher who is a forward scout for Carlton in Melbourne. He said that Clarke and Shaw were good picks. He saw them play in the rep game in Melbourne and thought that of all the players he had seen in 2004 he rated Clarke no.4.

How they work is that a group of people submit a list of 12 players each to the Carlton recruiters who then go through them along with others. 2 of his 12 got drafted by Carlton.

He also said it is hard to believe Grundy was not drafted and then went 42 in the Rookie Draft. He really rates him.

When he was talking about Clarke he also said Shaw was impressive and they played well as a combo.

So there is a bit more to be optimistic about. Shaw may even be a chance to play in 2005.

                          Sounds good, Nico.

I hope we get to see some of them over the next few years.

Just a bit of info about Luke Vogels.
I played against him this year, and he is a terrific player. Played centre half forward/back most of the year, but has the skills and athleticism to play on a wing. Last year he played as a winger and was very hard to match up on, because he is so strong overhead. Took on more responsibility this year in key positions. Lovely skills, moves fantastically for his size and has very strong hands above his head. Won the league b&f this year in a premiership side, not a bad effort for a 21 year old. Very level headed fellow and hope he does well at the Swans.
                            Cheers.

LOL - the way reports keep flooding in on our rookies, we'll be promoting half a dozen next year, in addition to our draft picks.... would be good for the senior-list players to have some pressure on them for their spots.
