I didn't actually see the game until about 9.30pm last night( BBQ with family & friends so I taped it). All I can say is it was a woeful performance all around and we'll need 110% improvement to beat the Lions next week.

The aftermatch was interesting partly because so few people had the enthusiasm to turn up. Craig Bolton was stretching to find a positive when he said that it was reassuring that we could play as badly as we did today and still look competitive. Roos was asked for positives and said he'd have to have a good look at the match tapes to try to find one.

I mentioned to Peter Jonas that some of our defenders (Leo, etc) didn't seem to have the same work intensity as usual. He replied that, when we are being smashed in the midfield, it's impossible for the defenders to keep up.

Tony Morwood was more direct. When he introduced Fossie, Saddo and Spriggs he said something "well it looks like you guys may be back in the seniors sooner than expected".

As Old Royboy said, Roos was revealing about Fossie saying he "had a great game in the 2s last week and was okay this week."

Intimated that a couple of heads will roll and nominated Spriggs and Dempster as the first in line for promotion. Fossie is still on the outer - Roos didn't consider he went as well today as last week.

Peter Jonas was more forthright - his summation was we played like @@@@ and were smashed in the midfield. (exact words)
Midfield coach got a pasting on here last year. We appear worse this year.

WOW! We really did play badly.
I never thought I would see the day that this board started thinking about bringing back Fosdike from the brink!

And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

It's Official. Spriggs, Fosdike, Ablett and Saddington are now seen as the side's salvation!

Which re-enforces my original concerns that we will not have the wonderful year many seem to think we will.

When we look at the above players, it is highly arguable to say that the cattle Roos has at his disposal is not all that flash. Hence we have to resort to a game based about ball ups and boundary throw ins.

Without Paul Williams, we do NOT have anyone who can move the ball through the centre square to the forward line. Playing Craig Bolton there might be an idea worth trying, as his skills are generaly pretty good.

Here's hoping i am wrong. I don;t think I will be though. But I know my team's odd quirks and moods. Watch out for us to beat the Lions on Saturday, as stupid as it sounds havig just slagged out our onball brigade.

That's silly talk after just one loss. Sure, it was a woeful perfprmance but they happen to all teams. Lets watch a few more games before we start calling for the coaches head.

As for Fosdike, this is the best opportunity he has had in quite some time to obtain and then cement a place in the seniors. We can only hope.

Well I would rather see Fosdike than Schneider at the moment his ball skills are woefull, Kirk has been ineffective, McVeigh is ok but not ready and would benefit some full game time in the ressies Maxfield cant keep up with the play, Ablett looks great in the ressies but, Fosdike would seem a better option for any of these.

                                Cheers
