I thought the swans were the better of 2 shocking teams for the first 3 quarters, but they just couldnt put the score on the board. And the roos were never going to play 4 full bad quarters, so it was always going to be a matter or time before they got their act together and slotted a few goals.

Our problem was that for every shot on goal we needed so much effort getting the ball forward. The roos were kept in the match in the first 3 quarters coz they were able to score some cheap rebounding goals requiring very few possessions, usually coming off our mistakes, eg Nicks handball in the middle of the ground.

Adam Schneider - you are a popular player with plenty of talent. This does not give you a God-given right to play every week. You actually DO have to contribute. Another week like that and he should be dropped.

Stuart Maxfield - I'll defer my assesment for another three weeks. His position as captain and being 14 games from 300 demands that. His performances don't, though.

Adam Goodes - floated in and out of the game every now and then. I said before the season he should be aiming for another Brownlow. He should be - but I can't help feeling he isn't.

Lewis Roberts-Thomson - better than last week. That's not saying heaps. Week to week proposition.

Barry Hall - wasteful. I expect MUCH better.

On the positive side, I was reasonably happy with C.Bolton, Jolly, Barry, Williams and maybe Buchanan and McVeigh (who seemed to be more involved than he's been in any other game he's played).

The good? It's only round 2 and there's plenty of time to mix things around.

Buchanan, Ablett, B2, Williams, Jolly maybe just scrape through with pass marks. LRT was a decent improvement on last week. The rest should be pretty disappointed with the afternoon's work.
Not out to crucify Jolly (especially after last week) but he had 2 kicks, 1 mark, 1 handball and gave away 5 free kicks! He'll surely be better next week.

I think roos can take a fair bit of blame. Too much possesion play, overuse of the ball. you could see at 3qrt time we were gonna run outa legs.
I am assuming that the players were fullfilling the game plan that is. which i think they were

Heh... I wouldn't have guessed that. How many hitouts did he have?

I'm starting to wonder about rotation off the bench - you end up with a lot of players with some possessions but no-one in the game all day.

I know this goes against accepted wisdom but sometimes I think it happens too often. Goodes is a player who I think should never be off the ground if fit.

Come to think of it trying to think who was more inept Sydney or Goldstink

Lots but sometimes hitouts are a meaningless stat. Ball was not great either.

Like Charlie I'll take it back then. He seemed to be doing pretty well in the centre, though his opponent was very inexperienced and the Roos were reading him much better than our boys were, even while we were the better team.

Was a very hot day though, and if we want Goodes to run around and create it's tough to expect him to do it for 120mins.

That said, I don't think he did a huge amount of running around this afternoon.

I don't know... but when I see that half-grin on his face as he explains another decision to a bewildered Swan, I tend to think it'd be worth a year's suspension for Barry Hall to pretend he was in a boxing ring for a minute or two...

I know it's irrational, and it's probably us being irrational. Surely, there's no rational reason for him to particularly dislike the Swans. Whatever it is, he is unfit to umpire Sydney games, and by extension, unfit to umpire at all.

I think it is only round 2. So we didnt play our best footy by a long shot. Both teams made it tough for themselves. i think there is only one spot as a small forward turn rover for schnider and buchanan. Could it be possible to have 1 of them in and play a spriggs or fosdike. Especially today when it was hot mayb another midfielder would have helped. i dunno but bring on the lions.

P.S Wat was the 100 meter up the field decision in the last quater?? It was against crouch i think but the defenders were furious i wondered wat he did!
