    McVeigh out

Puzzling decision considering he was one of our best against the Kangaroos. Exactly what is Paul Roos up to???

Glad to see Spriggs get a game though. I would have thought more changes were justified after last week.

Roos probably thought that Spriggs should take over from McVeigh and give him a rest. Really happy I will see Dempster and Spriggs playing.

No, I read on here he was playing.
You'll see a team list in the Swans Newsletter.

I found our team listed on the Lions site.

Dempster is named on the interchange.

Schneider is on the emergency list as well?

Im guessing Roos is expecting a very physical clash and needed bigger bodies in the midfield. McVeigh is still very skinny compared to, say, Bevan, who I thought would have been the first to make way (after Schneider).

Schneider out, looks like Noone will have to do it!

Is McVeigh injured. Was it he or NOG who copped one in the face last week? If not it does seem a strange decision.

Dont think he's injured cos he's listed as an emergency, as is Schneider.

No surprise that Schneider is out, a bit more surprising that McVeigh misses out.

However, if they were looking to give both Spriggs and Dempster a run, who would they have left out if not McVeigh? While form-wise it probably deserves to be Maxfield, being Captain it's almost like he wears an immunity necklace. Buchanan's disposal hasn't set the world on fire, but his endeavour is definitely there, so wouldn't like to see him left out, which probably leaves Bevan as the only other option, and he hasn't been too bad in the first couple of rounds.

Good to see Dempster finally get a run, he can finally go back to wearing #26 instead of #000. Will be a good test to see not only if his skills are up to it, but if he can handle the physical stuff, coz we all know if nothing else, the Lions play very physical footy.

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

OK, oops. The team list had not been posted when I started mine. Still seems a little odd.

It may just be as simple as Roos expecting a physical contest and thinking that Stewie will withstand that better than some of the young ones.

If he had a bad game this weekend you'd think he'd have to start considering his position.

By the way, there is no way LRT was going to be left out of the team. In Canberra, he and B2 were the only ones that Roos singled out at the aftermatch as performing to expectations.

I suspect this is the main reason why Roos left out McVeigh, and perhaps Roos read the RWO thread about Schneider being soft and decided he had to miss out!

Outside C.Bolton McVeigh was our best player last week. Don't worry about this "hard contest" crap, you don't see McVeigh knocked off the ball too often. Glad to see Dempster finally get a go, but can't see the logic in getting rid of one of the good players. At least they realised Schneider needed a game in the 2's.

I didnt say I agreed with the decision to drop him - I merely voiced my opinion on what that reason may be. Do you have any other plausible explanation as to why our second best player last week has been named as an emergency this week?
