    Maxfield

...he's having a horror start to the year.

This is why he should have relinquished the captaincy during the off-season. Can he now be demoted to Canberra, without retiring?

    He's finished.

He should do the right thing and retire from the team, that way his captaincy can be passed onto another player (Hall?).

He'll play the next two weeks - that'll get him to 200 club games.

What happens if he's still going the way he is will be... interesting. Painful to watch, but interesting. Will the coaching staff drop a captain who needs (atm) 13 games to get to 300?

Another thing - taking out players and giving away 50m penalties is NOT leadership. I know it's tense and fiery out there, but he didn't need to do that.

Posted in the other thread before I saw this one. Doing his bit for the team tonight, trying to get himself suspended. Needs a serious knee injury so he can walk (or hop) away with some dignity.

I agree he's struggling at the moment but the umpires were handing out 50's like lollies at a kids party during that game. Cant blame him for that.

He's a bench player, but needs to find some form. I like him in the side ahead of fosdike.

We can't drop the captain midseason. Impact player material.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Play him for 40 min a game off the bench.

On that performance tonight you could not say he is gone. He was about 500% better than last week, and his genuine hardness at the contest in the second half when a lot of players were stopping was very good.

                        For once we're in agreement.

He didn't have a good game by any measure but he busted his guts out there tonight. In fact, I suggest he was doing it all night, even in the first half when the rest of the team was looking pretty lethargic.

He was as important as anyone else in the final quarter when the game was there for the taking.

We still need more from him but tonight was definitely a step in the right direction.

Stu should've gone OFF in the 3rd qtr. He was so angry. He didn't play well then.

I thought it was a definite improvement from Maxfield tonight. Still not top class by any means but his input in the 4th quarter when the comeback was on was very good.

I feel that you (most anyway) are all being hard on stewy - his personal life is up in the air - hasn't got his touch yet. He is a player that gives 110% every match - is obviously out of sorts. Why are we all s unkind?

Give him a chance to get fit. I do agree that his career is getting close to the end. Have confidence that he will select the time to hand over the reins!

Next week may be the one that he kicks 4 goals and has a blinder...... I wish that we all put more energy into cheering than knocking.

looking at that way we won tonight - we held on in the 1/4 and then held on in the 2/4. Lost the third but we were never out of it. (I bet most of the knockers would have traded most of the team at the end of the third quarter.....) Then, when we were on a roll we were world beaters. So to knock is human nature and I can agree that Stewy is not playing the best but as the team has turned around in the last quarter, I feel that stewy can also. Give him time reaccess at the end of the year...!

                              Cheers from me
