    Changes for Eagles game

    IN: Schauble, Maxfield
    OUT: Buchanan, Bevan

Schauble has to come back in this week, the Eagles have three talls in Lynch (194cm), Hansen (198cm) and Gardiner (199cm) that we're going to struggle to contain otherwise. He should take Lynch who has been playing at FF.

Nicks only retains his place ahead of Bevan because of his excellent job against Matera last time. Buchanan has been very disappointing the last two weeks and so McVeigh and Spriggs should be retained ahead of him.

    matchups:
    Schauble - Lynch
    LRT - Gardiner
    Leo - Hansen
    Nicks - Matera
    Dempster - Sampi
    Kennelly - Chick

    Kirk - Cousins
    CBolton - Judd
    Ablett - Fletcher
    JBolton - Stenglein
Crouch - Kerr (if fit? else probably Butler)
    Maxfield - Embley
    McVeigh - Braun

    Hall - Glass
    O'Loughlin - Hunter
    Davis - Wirrpunda
    O'Keefe - Banfield

    Jolly, Goodes - Cox, Seaby

Judging by how the Brisbane - West Coast game is going, I don't think it matters who we put out next week, we're going to get flogged.

Its not going to be the talls of the Eagles that will kill us... its their gun midfielders. We will not drop Monty or Bevan, we need the run with players. Expect Mathews and Tiger to go if they are going to be serious about pressuring players with our depth.

How good are the Eagles. They are seriously slaughtering the beleagured Brisbane Lions.

I wonder if Roos will adopt a different game plan to play on the massive Subi ground. Purely and simply the 15 men crowding around the ball thing simply will not work on such a big surface.

Who will take Judd? Crouch? Kirk? Noggie?

Hell, we could cop a right shellacking in Perth.

How are Buchanan and Bevan run-with players? Mathews is a more of a tagger than the two of them put together.

well there is absolutely no chance of us winning next week, so I think when picking the team, they shouldnt worry too much about the opposition. Instead, just pick a team based on form. "What?", I here you say, "That means we'll only field a team of 8!"

Having said that however, this is what I think will happen. Mathews, Crouch, Kennelly, and any of the other senior players will not be dropped, despite their current poor form. Bevan and Buchanan need to have a run in the 2s, bring back Maxfield (no brainer, whether we like it or not) and Schauble (if fit enough). I would love to see a debutant this week, but realistically I cant see it happen.

Can you see Mathews have the speed and desperation that Monty and Bevan would? He is a very average fotballer who used to perform a specific role well. He is now useless in our team. How the hell he and LRT can keep a spot week in, week out is beyond me, they are all poor footballers
Bevan and Buchanan have speed and will go in hard. By the looks of the Lions/Eagles game, thats what we need. The Lions are too slow and too soft. Voss is getting slaughtered one on one, the rest of em arent going into contests like they mean it. Seem like a team very low on confidence.

I'll take a 5 goal loss next week based on form. West Coast have such a balanced line-up - lots of midfield options with some of them also able to play across HF (Embley, Stenglein) and then with Cox and Seaby, they are able to play Gardiner purely as a forward, and now with Hansen providing a strong marking option up forward (Lynch can't seem to catch) they have the balance between talls and smalls up forward. And this of course is without even touching on Judd, Cousins, Fletcher, Braun, Adkins, Kerr (if he comes back) etc etc.

In some ways it could be a good thing for us - head over there with nobody expecting us to get close and just see what they;re made of. We seem to have played some of our best footy in the past few years when there are no expectations.

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Yes but some of us like to have optimism regardless.

Will be interesting to see how the game plan works out on the bigger grounds. It may well be that we play BETTER away from the SCG because of forward line setup works out better. Last night we seemed to be more concerned with the lack of room than Melbourne.

It should certainly make for an interesting spectacle IMO.

Yean and it will also be interesting to see the final margin when playing a good team on their home ground!

I would bring in Maxfield and Schauble.

I would drop Mathews and Schneider.

I'm kinda thinking that it would be good to start blooding some kids. All I have seen of Nick Malcevski is that he has a terrible haircut.

I have been on Bevan's case for a couple of weeks. even in Brisbane he was atrocious. Always over-possessing, suspect skills. He needs a couple of weeks in Canberra I think.

Where has Fixter gone? He still injured?

What about Schmidt? He worth a punt?
