Something seems to happen to the brain of many a AFL CEO. Only recently Andrew threw his 2c into national politics with comments about multiculturalism etc.

I don't know if it's the pressure of the job, or they just like hearing the sound of their own rhetoric.

rather hypocritical; if a player or team criticizes the system they get fined for it. But he can openly bag whoever he likes.

Roos is single handedly doing more than any other person in football to bring the game into disrepute!
He should be sued by the AFL.
Give it a rest Footyhead, when was the last time a club sacked a coach with a 50% + winning record after only 2 & 1/2 years.

If we are playing the same way as we are now and losing games by the end of next year then the question can be posed then.

As for now, shut the **** up.

G'day, I'm not a frequent poster here (if I was I'd spend even more time on the net LOL), but I read the posts a lot and felt compelled to comment -

The thing that irritates me about Demetriou's comments (apart from the fact that he's merely stating the bleeding obvious) and other such criticism of the Swans' playing style ATM is that it implies that the way the Swans have been playing in the last three weeks IS their "style of play".

This is absolute crap because who seriously believes that the game plan involves kicking 7-8 goals a game and losing by 6-8 goals? Obviously, they're not playing well, and of course they're not going to win games playing like this!

Putting aside the ugly football from last year (which I don't agree with), note that in 2005 so far, the team has been making an effort to kick long (as in the last quarter of the Brisbane game), and Darren Jolly (at half time on Triple M) suggested that this is the game that Roos wants them to play, showing that their game is evolving from the free-running 2003 and the dour 2004. I don't think anyone would call kicking 7 goals to win the game in the last quarter "ugly".

I don't think the team has 'gelled' yet this year, which IMO is quite understandable given Roos' low-key approach to the pre-season. I reckon the worst of the current form slump is over, and that when the team's form and confidence comes back we'll see a comparatively attacking style of play. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but feel free to quote me on this later on.

                  Completely with you.

Did we hear Demetriou criticise the Hawks and Richmond for being crap last year. Or Melbourne and the Dogs the year before? Or St Kilda for several years while they sat at the bottom and accumulated all those top 5 draft picks.

Tell me Andrew, how would you react if Sydney "did a St Kilda" - whether deliberately or otherwise?

As I said elsewhere, it appears to everyone that the Swans are playing a deliberate game plan which revolves around boring stoppages and keepings-off.

Why wouldn't people think that given we played like that for most of last year and most of this year.

These other sides did not appear to be playing an ugly game plan, they were just playing badly. There is a major difference.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

10 000 % correct. Just give up the cynical game plan and have an honest go at attacking footy and most of us will probably shut the **** up...!

I think what Demetriou said was crap each team has to try to win whatever way they can. We never really had a chance to beat WCE they have so much talent and depth on their list. The only way we were going to beat them was to tag heavily. We led them at the 1st change by choking them had some chances to kick goals but missed them and when we tryed to open the game up in the 2nd term we got hammered. If we played a shootout from opening bounce it would of been a 100 point margin.
If the AFl really wants to stop flooding why doesn't he use his power to bring some changes in by limiting the amount of defenders in the defensive half then we would have shootouts all the time.
But they won't because they're gutless.

Demetriou's the one who started this by attacking our club and shooting his big mouth off. So why doesn't he put or shut up.

Wasn't much flooding at the MCG yesterday - they played football and kicked over 40 goals. He'd probably look at that and say, why don't the Swans try to kick some goals.

I was at the game and my opinion is, it would not of worked against WCE.....though it could work against the Dons.
I'll be at the game so it would be great to see plenty of goals..........Sydney ones of course.
