Proof is in the pudding, why would Roos order for an extra man back in defense last night when we were already 40 points down? What are u trying to protect? A 40 point deficit? Theres flawed strategy if ive ever seen it.
No point taking someone from the front and throwing em in the back when u need goals. You look at the stoppages and rucks, all the swans were standing behind the ball, rather than forward - so even if they do perform a miracle and win the ball and get a clean disposal away they had no one to go to..... DUH ROOS. You TOOL.

And of course because our "small forwards" (I use the term forwards very loosely) push up into the midfield all the time, we never have anyone at the spill of a contest inside our forward 50 to crumb goals meaning the opposition rebound so easily.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

        Yeah I see yor point.
Now Schauble is back it should let Barry take a few more chances and we should get more run out of our defensive line. Hopefully it doesn't find it's way down there to often anyway.
It would be nice to control the centre for once and have our forwards actually kick straight as well and not squander chances

Leigh Matthews was asked about Demetriou's comments on CH 7 Sportsworld this morning. His response was that he thought winning was more important.

Agree with all of the above points - while it's understandable that people think that the Swans play a boring game plan with lots of stoppages, the fact is that so far this year, they have been not playing well enough to either shut down the opposition or kick goals!

I'd hope that when the team does find a bit of form and confidence, that they will be more attacking - I don't think Roos really plans to stick with just the dour stoppage game all the time. (Well I hope not!) If he does, then Demetriou can criticise us all he wants.

No, what is happening is that because we aren't winning, our negative style of play is getting more negative attention. and those who dislike it have suddenly more scope in which to make attacks on it.

People were bored as early as the Adelaide match last year. But when you are winning they really aren't saying much. But now....

It is not JUST about winning in Sydney. It is about winning people over to our game. We never will with the footy we are playing at the moment.
I understand what you are saying but I have to disagree with this. To get the extra 5000 - 10000 to each game, I think that comes down to winning and nothing else. Mainly because they are the people who are not completely into it. The people who stop and ask you how the Swans went after a match when you are walking around in red and white. The people who hear the result in the news the next day - these types don't look hard enough at how they lost. They may be sport fans but not necessarily AFL fans.

BUT what you say, losing poorly, will start eating into the 30,000 or so regulars that DO care about that.

We are the only club in the land that carries the AFL's burden so prominantly.

Brisbane have proven that they can go through a merger, and a spoon (around '98) and still maintain support and operations.

Sydney arent even allowed to play dogged footy, let alone go for good draft picks.

Andy D, you knob, release the swans of the burden of holding up the AFL, and then we can go back to just being a footy club, and concentrate on footy.

                    Either:
                    - Get a 2nd team into Sydney
                    - If you arent going to let us tank seasons like St Kilda, give us a priority pick every 5 years.

                      2 thoughts on Chairman Andy

                      1) It's interesting how he's accusing the Swans 2004-05 playing style of making the game less attractive in the league states.

That to me is not as big a scandal as the fact that not 1 single kid was drafted from the area between Newcastle and Wollongong last year!

He's responsible for promoting the game so frankly I reckon he should be explaining the lack of players not blaming the Swns horrible playing style.

                      2) At their best the Swans style is blue collar hard at it football where everyone has to do the hard things . . . . which was the absolute oposite of the way Young Andy used to play.

He was such a gutless powder-puff receiver he made Craig Bradley look like Greg Williams.

I like Luff's comment "Roos or Colless comment on Demetriou and how he runs AFL" - don't think so - why not run AFL and not pick on how we play.

He isn't that clever remember last year - for some reason - he chose the colour for the umpires to wear - when we played Hawthorn "yellow" DOH not real clever.
                        Love those Swans

                          Demetruiou - The Commentator?

We have to ask what were his motives for making his "opinion" public? Is he jumping in knowing the rest of the footy world is bagging us so he can't lose? Is he just pushing his own profile? If he had a real concern he could have simply contacted the Swans on his trip to Sydney this week and discussed these matters in private!!!

Demetriou all you are contributing to is publicly denigrating one of your largest assets in a State dominated by other codes! Don't be so foolish next time as to give opposing codes ammunition against the Swans!

How do we go about fining or censuring Demetriou? I am sure he'd do the same if we knocked the umpires or his direction publicly.

If Colless, said "I think Demetriou is a big mothed no brain w....., . . . but that's only a personal opinion" would that work?
