CROUCH was and still is my first choice.

From my 'far away from the inside of the club' position.

IMO what we need is a leader, a vocal leader and one who can inspire both on the field and off.
So only the club really knows who best fits that description, and I dare say that KIRK already has the title wrapped up given that he is the caretaker.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

No LRT? Give him the captaincy now and watch him bloom in 2012...

How about a player who has improved this year, at a time when the team has been playing down. That's a better example of leadership.

Has Barry Hall officaly said no to being a captain?
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

That is quite a good point and Nick does certainly fit the bill from that respect. He also appears to be directing traffic at stoppages (not that it is working of course), good to see him yabbering away. I could picture Nick at first slip chewing Gilchrist's ear off all day.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
