Roosy may keep LRT in the side if Ball isn't fit. We've just lost Doyle for the season so LRT is more likely to remain in the side. Had Doyle been avaialble LRT's position in the side would be shaky.
Mathews won't get dropped. If Roos was going to drop him for his lack of footy brain, it would of happenned long ago, not just this year.

I cant believe how many people think that Mcveigh should get a recall. He has had plenty of chances and as yet has done jack **** diddly squat. He looks more and more like trade bait come the end of year. For what its worth, Jolly definitely in and Davis out will probably be the only changes.

An article on the Swans homepage says Ball is available but Goodes will do" some sort of rucking role"
I presume that means Vogels will come out as Ball and Jolly will probably spend time in the forward line.
So Davis and Vogels (He showed promise) out.
        Ball and Jolly in.

Please keep the kids in. My preference:

Out: Davis, Sproggs (oh please), LRT
          In: McVeigh, Maxy, Jolly.

We need some decent match-ups: Port play pretty tall. Brogan (back from susp), Lade, Primus, Thurstans, Tredders. If Ball is fit they'd have to play him, and maybe even retain LRT. I suspect Moore will be dropped if so. Maxy to apply some physicality.

          More than likely:

          Out: Davis, Moore / Vogels).
          In: Ball, Jolly.

Williams has said he will only play 2 ruckmen so Lade or Brogan won't play if you believe him.

And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Ball is too slow to play as a defensive option. My worst fear is for him to tear his hamstrings chasing Lade or Brogan. Unless we decide to move Saddo back, LRT is probably our only option left .

                In: Jolly, McVeigh
                Out: Davis and Springs

That would do it for me. We should nurture the older guys which mean another week off for Ball.

Maxfield won't be back for a while i don't think and Nicks should stay in the ressies till the end of the year.

                  My changes will be:

                  In: McVeigh, Jolly
                  Out: Spriggs, Davis

Keep the kids in. Ball not to be rushed back.

You must be kidding, McV's biggest problem is lack of game time. When He has been on the field he has been one of the few to hit a target consistently!!!

McVeigh > Schneider in oh so many ways. He consistently gets the sharp end of the pineapple from Roos. I hope if he doesn't make it here this year he looks for another club. What is your view LS, you must have watched his development closely to have such a firm opinion on the matter.

I agree. I think he has a good future.

One problem may be that his work rate is not at a high enough level. He seems fine when he gets the ball but drifts in and out of games a bit. Game time is obviously one of the causes of this - it's hard for him to get much "continuity" if that makes sense.

Anyway, I can't think of any other reason for him being dropped regularly.

McVeigh's biggest single problem is his weight. He is only 20 but stand him next to Moore, who is only 19 and actually significantly shorter. 6kgs is a lot at that height.

But completely different type of midfielder.

Also keep in mind that McVeigh is only 3kg lighter than Chris Judd who is 5cm taller, so weight isn't the biggest problem McVeigh faces.

                              Its gametime.

You learn more on the field than off it and McVeigh just doesn't get that time. Until he is given time in the midfield that he needs to become a solid midfielder, then any discussion on whether he is "up to it" is pointless.
                              Once was, now elsewhere

Please. Judd has so much speed his weight is irrelevant. Davey or Lovett are more reasonable comparisons to Judd. McVeigh is not.

I am confident the reason he does not stay in the side because his weight permits opposition players to push him off the ball far to easily. And he is working hard on getting the weight up as he put on 6kg over the pre-season.

He's 20. He does not need gametime at the cost of the team. Roos tactic of one game in and one game out is fine by me. I think you'll find Jarrad is quite fine with it too, because it would have been explained to him in detail. I think we may also see him continue to dominate the ressies more and more each time he plays, which (wheen combined with the odd senior game) will actually improve his confidence anyway.
