Why can't we have too many talls in the team? It seemed like just the other day that this forum was full of people complaining about Sydney's lack of height, now we have people saying we have too many talls. Good grief! What is "too many"?

Personally I would hate to see Vogels get dropped. He's done OK and I reckon will keep improving with more matches. We have enough hobbits in the side so I just dont see how we can have too many talls.

If a 'tall' is to go, has Saddington done enough to keep his place ahead of Vogels? Or would Saddington be preferred because of his pace and experience down back? I assume that LRT will play again, given his better performance this week.

Are you advocating his retention in the squad ROK?

Vogels is being talked about like hes a dominant forward ????

He's a fringe player, a speculative pick, who is not getting much of the ball, fast running out of time to stamp himself at AFL level.

Doggies are going to tough, we need our best 22. If Ball is fit, he must play.

Nope. I have very well derfined biases and am an advocate for only a few. I am still not convinced that he will make it as a footballer but am happy to concede that he played better this week. Given that he had not been dropped for previous poor showings, I cannot see him going this week.

The difference betwen the blind optimists and the realists is that the realists can recognize an improvement in LRT while the blind optimists will never acknowledge the failings.

I thought the difference was the labrador dog.

I'd love to see Jolly playing forward a bit more, as seen from his effort last week - he can clearly take a mark. You jsut need to watch the damage Gardiner does for the West Coast to see what a benefit it is having a big tall in the forward pocket. With Ball potentially coming backl, this could give Jolly an opportunity to play up front a bit more and stretch the dogs.
Maybe having a tall like Jolly at FF will make our mids kick more direct, back his height in the contest, and we wont end up with these kick on/near the boundary line on the 50m arc.

Dont agree that Nicks should come back in, of course he will look good in the Ressies, he can get by on experience alone playing there - but he jsut hasnt been up to scatch lately.
Mcveigh performed poorly, Roos will probably drop him. Its a shame, if only he was given the multiple chances LRT has and he may show some form. I defintely would recommend bringing Scheidner back in, he needs a few weeks on the sidelines to reassess his commitment to winning the ball.
Finally, MOL. I wish he hadnt got 3 last week, as it doesnt reflect his performance for mine. He is obivously carrying injuries, perhaps he will never be fully fit. If so then someone else should get a go.
Thought Saddo did very very little last week.
                      So;
                      In: Ball,
                      Out: Saddo

That's just complete crap. I don't have the stats on his game time - it seemed like about 20 minutes yesterday, mabe an hour or so the previous week. I'm happy to concede that I may have dudded him by 30 minutes either way.

In his 90(?) minute playing career, he's kicked 2 goals, had 11 disposals and 2 or 3 tackles. When he is on he make a very positive contribution to the forward line pressure. Have you been watcjing the games ?
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Vogels played about 38 minutes yesterday. In that time he managed 4 possessions, 3 marks and a goal.

Given he's played two games and had minimal time, and performed reasonably in that minimal time, I fail to see how he's failed to "stamp himself at AFL level".

The big risk of us playing tall against the 'Dogs in our backline is that they have a mosquito fleet of forwards.

Playing tall in the forward line good be very damaging, however only if we can deliver it to the forwards long and accurately, the forwards hold marks, and there are players to scout the packs. So far we've seen little sign of being able to do this.

Stamping yourself at AFL level means many things, the obvious being playing out a full game (or thereabouts).
It also means a regular spot in the seniors.

                              Ball >> Vogels.

That may be so but I can tell you who is more likely to be in a Swans premiership side.

But that is irrelevant, how come time is running out fast for him to stamp himself?
