A bit hard to predict where the teams will be, when the fixture is done.
Thats true but i think theyve been a bit slow cause they should have played brisbane in 2002 or 2003 at telstra and they just figured it out now, and they shouldnt have played melbourne last year or carlton in 2003.

that is true but those that spoke in favour of developing a sydney-brisbane rivalry were accused by many of trying to impose rugby traditions onto afl. personally i think it comes down to geography and the fact that some of the best rivalries come from within strong alliegences. at the time i felt that both us and brisbane were uniting under the sustained attack of the (unusually unified) southern clubs over salary caps and retention bonuses.

i think that most of the decisions have been based not on the strength of the contest but upon the ability of the other team to draw a crowd. i don't known where melbourne fit into this though.

oh and jeff, i was (poorly) referring to the extent of brisbane's competitiveness rather than the fervour of its fan-base. i am curious though to see how many brisbane-based lions fans fly down if their chances both in the match and the season look slender.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

That is one thing i have thought about on many occasions,

In theory it makes sense BUT there would be a few things to consider:
1.The availability of the grounds(more so TS than SCG)if you were to switch games.
2.The flexibility of staff at these grounds.
3.TV stations having to re-organise their staff and operations.
4.Where the AFL stood on the matter.

However cruiser,i can see where you are coming from.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Well the Collingwood game is never going to be moved.

I think they failed to get a Sydney v Melbourne rivalry going and accidentally a Sydney v Brisbane one popped up - I doubt that match will be changed.

The poor crowd at the Essendon game means that one is possibly "expendable". But the low crowd figure is probably because of the Swans poor showing in recent matches at that point.

I can't really see them changing the three matches at this point or really have much reason to.

(I would prefer all home games or none to be moved, however).

I definately realised that the SCG was slightly redeveloped, adding some new concourse seats but I still doubt whether we will get 46,000 again at the SCG for a Swan's match.

Not always mate. That Geelong match in 1996 was incredibly quiet for its size. There were so many first time supporters in the crowd that people kept on asking the guy nexct to them what was happening. A guy standing behind me kept asking what the mad scientist guy in the straight jacket was doing with the flags?
