I wasnt having a dig at Melbourne's winter weather. There is no doubting at all that it is colder and wetter in Melbourne in winter than Sydney and most Sydney born people (and many of us who have moved here to live) hate cold winter weather. I'm hoping that Hayes may feel that way.

I moved from Sydney to Melbourne, and the winters can be just as cold and wet in Sydney.

Ah, the true Aussie mateship lives on!
At the moment it's looking less like a dynasty and more like Dynasty. Being St KIlda, I have this feeling the whole thing will start to unravel at the end of the season. Hopefully we can get pull a few threads this weekend.

To be fair to Bucks I'm sure his desire was to win a flag with the Pies - tho I guess you need to ask him if he'd have swapped 3 flags for one Pies flag

Unfortunately, I think his preference for living in a football city and possible dislike of the Swans due to overlooking him may offset any impact of the Melbourne winter.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, many players see Melbourne as the football mecca. I don't think weather is a big factor unless you compare say Qld, with Melbourne. I've spent some time up in Sydney during the winter and often there is not a huge difference between the two but when we're talking Brisbane, Noosa, or Surfer's Paradise, there is.

I'm note sure whether "low threshold to inclement weather" should ever be a leading criteria in our recruitment efforts

Especially considering that the Dons, and Pies are also in the market for out of contract players. You think there has to be more to offer (lol)

We just have to convince him not to sign until the end of the year. Then when the Saints miss out on the 8, and we have a solid finals campaign, he may just reconsider

And hope that they have a really harsh, bitter, cold, wet, grey, windy, icey, miserable winter down in Melbourne....(bites tongue)

It's superb late Autumn football weather. Cold and crisp. It's the way football is meant to be.

At least you only have to bring woollies and not wet weather gear. Makes for a slightly more pleasant experience than last time we played the Saints.

                              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
