Yeh, why not somewhere like Tassie or the UK during footy season for Bevan. Send him into space and tell to keep on going. He plays like he is in outer space.

Yeah, you've got to wonder about Bevans future. He made a name for himself by diving on the ball with gay abandon and boltling it up on the back line. Since then the rules have changed and all he does now is give away free kicks.
      Adapt or perish young Bevan.

This whole rubbish game plan v attrocious skills argument puzzles me. Surely, last night in particular, it was both. the collective skill level of the Swans is dreadful. Roos' gameplan is a reaction to this. Both need to change.

IMHO the gameplan wouldn't look so bad if we had players with decent skills as it relies on skilful player to execute it correctly. The fact is, we don't have the skills, so having the coach sit back and blame the cattle over and over is not right. They are partly to blame, but if he is unable to adapt his coaching style to match the abilities of his players, and get the most out of what he does have at his disposal instead of lamenting what he doesn't have, he will never be more than a mid-range coach.

And lets not forget that Tezza is the same coach who took the Bulldogs to within a kick of the 97 GF and then no better for the next five years. So its not like his record is any better than Roos at this point, even if the commentators have a ball watching the games they play.
Sports isn't just about winning - it's also about enjoying what you're watching/playing.

The Tigers (and most other sides) are playing a more enjoyable brand of football than we are.

By playing an attacking brand of football you give yourself a chance to win when you fall behind.

The Swans managed just 5 I50s in the first quarter and just 6 in the last (combined with a massive 17 in the middle two quarters). This is unlikely to win many games.

As for Richmond losing their best player - how on earth is that relevant?

The bit where he forgets that game plans have to be followed before coaches can be held accountable.
And what is Roos doing about these poor skills and poor discipline?

We also dont have a plethora of first round draft picks
St Kilda has 8 first round draft picks on their list and we have 6.

We didn't even have players prepared to keep running to contests. This soak up the opposition type plan is dangerous at the Dome because as players say, it takes it out of the legs. The saints soaked it up but our belt them up style took it out of us.

We were merely jog trotting in the last stanza.

Robert walls commentary was like the chinese water torture, like a nagging 2year old saying the same thing over and over and over until I screamed so loudly I scared the cat who ran into the dog and they had a fight and that woke my daughter and she yelled out in fright. I'm surprised it didn't make the newspapres for disturbing the peace.
His voice has got that perfect whining tone to it that just makes me want to throw things at the T.V. I have enough of that during the week without having it wrecking my leisure time.

The rotational roundabout went beserk last night. At many centre bounces players were running in and out of the centre not knowing whose turn it was.

To make matters worse Mathews seemed to be the one trying to work it out, or was he the one who kept going in when he should not have.

And yes it was very obvious there was tension and lack of harmony out there. Is it perhaps that their brains can take no more of the rotational and physical torture they must endure.

On 3AW David King said the Swans game plan not only drains physically but you get mentally drained also. The forgotten factor as he called it.

It may only take a Ball and Reiwoldt. Thats all it takes with St Kilda.

And how many number one picks do we have? None. Them? 3!

Unless you want to say that their team is no more talented than ours? Fine by me as long as you stick with it for the rest of the year.

Is it that Walls was talking a lot of crap or some supporters dont like to hear the truth??

I think its the later, myself and other have been saying the same thing all - year we have a defensive gameplan that wont win many games.

Walls was spot on when he said the Swans will win their fair share of home games as the style we use is perfectly suited to "strangling" teams on the SCG, the problem is it wont work well on the larger grounds. So we win most of our home games pick up a couple away and we make the 8 again, Roos and his cronies can give themselves a pat on the back for another successful year.

I noticed the same things this game as the semis last year Stkilda were too big (body strenght) and too skillfull.

Im not sure what we can do about this at this stage of the season but surely its time to try something new.

                        My suggestions

Nicks - out Dempster in ...whats the value in playing Nicks and leaving Dempster in a second rate comp where he will learn nothing?

Buchcanan - out Macleski in... Bucky gets plenty of the ball but his skills are woefull.

Kennealy move to the midfield and put Dempster on his flank.

Vogels give him a game at FB- we to start developing a FB I cant see anyone else in our current squad whoeven comes close to filling FB in the near future.

Leo move back to HB we get so much more with Leo at HB.

Crouch leave him on a wing

Leave ROK in the FWD 50 and use Saddo as the HF who drifts between HF and HB

Schnieder leave him in a FWD pocket for a game.

                        Cheers

I agree with you Wazza. Some supporters don't want to hear the truth, especially if somebody is rubbing it in. Shnedierman is definitely one of them, who tryies so desperately to convince us that everyhting is rosy and good in Sydney Swans household.
Wait and behold there's a premiership coming in next coupl eof years. If you're Schniederman, you would believe that. I don't, not with the current team and the coaching staff.

I think they're far more talented than us, but it's not just because of the number of high draft picks. However, so many people say that and that becomes a legitimate excuse. We have a number of first round picks and there are other players in the competition who do well without being picked so early. Our team is performing very poorly partly because of confidence, partly because of commitment on the part of some, and partly because of skill. I wonder how much of that skill problem is the fault of the club.

The problem I had with the commentary was that ALL of them - Walls, Quarters and Lane, seem to relish in the Swans stuffing it up. Even when one attacking move down the centre came off Walls was already on the front foot "See, you just can't....ohhh....hang on". They even debated the MOL no mark decision, seemed to think the Saints forwards pushing in the back were fine and there was very little mention of the supposed throws.

As for the Swans performance on the night - Absolutely pathetic. Can't blame MOL, Hall or Vogels here as they hardly got a sniff all night.

Bucky and Bevan need some time in the twos.

Ball did not look match fit

Mathews had a shocker and I'd suggest if the rest of the team was playing better his season would be on the line.

Don't understand why Schauble and Dempster didn't play.
