    Round 15 Positives

During my 2 week enforced sabatical, I did some thinking, and decided that it seems too often that threads degrade into pure negativity. Therefore I've decided that after each game I will start one thread to raise and discuss the positives from the match, and one thread to raise and discuss the negatives from the match. I really think this will be a good way to draw positives especially from all games, even the ones we play poorly in. Perhaps it will even help to alleviate some of the disappointments we fans feel after the team lets us down.

The thing that really got me was that it was disappointing that the Waratahs lost the Super 12 final, but after giving it plenty of thought I realised that in fact this year was a huge success and it was hugely satisfying watching the Tahs throughout their campaign. I realised that this was pretty much my exact sentiments about the Swans 1996 and 2003. Sure it sucks that we didnt win, but neither did 14 other teams.

So I'll end this post now and in the next one will post one thing that I found was a huge positive from last night's game, and encourage others to do the same. I'll also start a Round 15 Negatives thread in the same manner.

Buchanan's form as a true in and under midfielder has been superb ever since he was thrown in the deep end against Freo.

Another great game from him last night, hopefully he can continue to improve, especially with his kicks for goal.

        - 2nd Quarter: positive, direct football. Won pleantly of clearances
        - Kicked accurately
        - Manned up in D50 at kick-ins (mostly)
        - Good aggression and tackling
        - Emergence of Buchanan and continued improvement of Ablett

The main positive for me was that the T.V. remote didn't get thrown or anything broken. Mainly due to the fact that I had to listen to the game on MMM. When I get to see a replay tonight I'll be able to add to the general positive of feeling good and being able to stick it to the Geelong supporters at work tomorrow.

I don't know if it's really a positive but one has to admire Brett Kirk. That guy is made of tough stuff. He looked gone for all money after getting dropped on his head!

I know I have already mentioned this in the game thread, but seeing him try to take on the trainers was at once concerning and hilarious. He did not want to leave the field.

Am a big Kirky fan, but really didn't think the team doctor would have let him back into the game after a crack like that. But they did. And he seemed to function ok... wonder if he remembers much of it, though...

Was aweful watching him stumble around trying to get to his feet. But it was fantastic to see how well he played in the 2nd half afterwards. A huge improvement on his game last week, which I considered one of his worst since 2002, continually fumbling the ball. Last night he had clean, fast hands almost all night.

I was amazed they'd let him on, but he'd obviously answered the "is your brain still rattled" questions ok! I must admit watching him try to take on the trainers and doctor was pretty hilarious if you ignore the seriousness of the moment - reminded me of many of my mates after nights out - "No, pish off I'm not ducking frunk!"

ROK finding his accuracy again and contributing 2 of the 9 straight goals kicked in that awesome second quarter.

This was definitely a highlight, along with some idiot on fox footy holding up a card to send a message to Ayers and that other fat head (what's his name), but then not realising it was in front of the camera. Another hand appeared from the other side and slapped it down. Hilarious.

...oh the actual game. I thought ROK's kicking was sensational. When he is on song, he is wonderful kick, good mark and can get first use of the ball. Great player. Goodes playing as a true ruck rover was great to see, winning his first game as captain. He's my preferred option for next year, although next week will be a big test for him.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Goodes kicking - not just this week but for most of the season.

Yes, I know he missed two shots at goal last week but in seasons past - even 2003 - I used to dread watching him kick for goal. He's improved markedly in that area this year.

But even more than his kicking for goal, there seems to have been a huge improvement in his field kicking. More often than not his delivery into the forward 50 is perfectly weighted to give the forward the best chance of marking it. This was certainly well on display last night.

The fact that we won with Willo having a quiet one is also encouraging - though obviously it must be mitigated by the fact that the Cats had so many out.
